A/N: Yeah, I know, this is probably a bad idea but I’m sick (okay...recovering now) and I had this really realistic dream and my feverish brain was all like “WRITE IIIIIIIT!” and so I did and now I might as well post it just to prove that I’m alive. I know there's a lot of posts about this already. A lot of pleas for more/better engagement from readers of fanfiction (or enjoyers of fanart, gifs, etc etc)...

But I get so disheartened?

I post my stuff here and on AO3. I know I'm not a big blog here and so I can sort of ignore the lack of reactions to my work by blaming it on the fact that it drowns quickly after posting because there are no reblogs except my own and maybe 1 or 2 others and I'm a small fish in a biiiiiig sea.

It's harder with AO3. There, I can see the hits vs likes and on fics that get ~300 hits...it's hard to feel my writing is worth anything when there's maybe 10-20 likes.

Didn't all the other people reading enjoy it? Is it that bad? I know I'm not amazing but still...

I put a lot of effort into my fics. I write in a language that's not my native tongue. I have someone else help me proof read it. I spent ages plotting before even getting to the point of typing it out.

I guess my point is: why do I bother posting if people don't like what I do?

I know, writing fanfic ought to be for myself and not for others. I like sharing, is the thing. Or I liked. I don't know. I just wish there was more feedback. That if people "consumed" my "product" and if they liked it that I'd somehow know.

Anyways...rant over.

TL:DR I wish people engageed more with fanfic authors and other creators.

This one is for my sister and needs different colour numbers so she can read it better. She suggested pink, so we'll see how that works.

The mission you and Loki are returning from had been a co-op between Asgardian forces, the Avengers and the elusive Carol Danvers who had identified a hostile party of Sovereign. A splinter group out to bugger things up for both realms. And you had been honoured to be among the chosen ones that set out to combat them.

The plan had been to defeat the enemy.

That plan had been completed.

But at a steep cost.

There had been injuries, of course. It was to be expected when you’re up against a strong force that are unwilling to accept defeat, fighting until their last breath. But there had been fatalities on your side too. One for now but if the healers couldn’t help then the number would double.

You’re bored, having had no missions for a while. Your normal three victims for pranks are all gone on their own businesses but you know Loki is bound to return within a day so now is your chance to get him for the flour in your pockets.

Tiptoeing down the tower’s hallway, your arms are full of rolls of cling wrap.

You settle the tools for your prank beside you as you kneel before the door, knowing better than to expect the Trickster God to leave his door unlocked or untrapped. Using every skill in your arsenal (most taught by Natasha and Loki himself, ironically), you investigate the lock and handle, unlocking the door before moving on to the door itself. Deeply engrossed in the task at hand, you hear the sound of nearing footsteps too late.

So much fluff!!! With a hint of mischief... now I'm kinda curious how Loki reacts when he gets home...

Good morning

You’ve been lying awake for a few minutes, watching how the morning sun moves across the pillow towards him. Calm. Serene. T’Challa is always beautiful but he’s down right ethereal in his sleep.

As the sunbeam hits his cheek (highlighting the curves and lines that you find so handsome), the light brings renewed life to his skin, adding a golden sheen to the already warm hue. His eyelashes flutter but don’t open. His nose scrunches a bit and you know that he’s awake because his breathing alters, becoming a deep, satisfied sigh at first.

Fluff... pure fluff!! I love this! ❤️

Safe haven

You could already feel the anxiety stabbing at your heels as you hurried from the quinjet to your room. It had been a hard mission and things had gone wrong even though the overall trip had been a success.

Success.

It’s hard for you to think of it as that considering the destruction and violence you’ve not only witnessed but have helped dole out for the first time – sure, you know it came with the territory but apparently your training hasn’t prepared you fully for what it feels like to rip up in old wounds: one of the Hydra goons had had an uncanny resemblance to your so-called father. Although sober, the guy had been vicious, bearing down on you with...no, I won’t think about it. Not anymore.

Walking down the quiet halls of the Stark Tower at night, you know everyone is asleep or at least in their respective rooms. No one will notice you.

Tiptoeing past Natasha’s room, you’re almost at the elevator which will bring you down two floors to the gym where you finally will be able to let off some steam. Well...steam is not the right term. Technically what you’re lacking is steam because it’s been replaced by a million thoughts and a fuck-ton of doubt. Doubt that you’re good enough to be on the team, among other things. Every day, you seem to be trying to catch up, never even reaching your teammates’ shadows, and the last mission...you sigh at the memory, pushing the button for the elevator repeatedly until it finally opens with a ping and you can scurry in.

So sweet!!! I need that man in my life!!

You stretch as you wake up, subconsciously reaching towards the spot next to yours in the bed but finding it empty. There’s a pang of disappointment that you strangle right away: you love cuddling as sleep leaves your body and mind but your beloved tends to be up earlier than you and that’s okay. So instead of the real thing, you settle with hugging Loki’s pillow close, inhaling his scent that clings to the silken pillowcase and for a moment you drift back to sleep content with the knowledge that he has been there not that long ago.

Reunion

You arrive at Utgarde at noon after five months on the road and you only begrudgingly take time to stop at the bathhouse before heading to the palace, leaving your friends behind to get rooms for themselves at the inn.

“His highness isn’t present at the moment, but I know he wouldn’t mind,” Loki’s personal servant, Coranzen, divulges, “please, make yourself at home, miss. Perhaps you would like a drink on the balcony until he returns?”

You smile, giddy with anticipation. “Yes, thank you, that would be lovely.”

...

You don’t have to wait long before you can hear Loki’s voice from within the quarters, followed by the rush of footsteps and suddenly he’s standing in the door, chest heaving as though he’s been running and his ruby gaze fixed upon you.

“[Y/N],” he gasps with a wide smile.

Idea constantly popping in my head about an adhd writer sitting in a cafe just wracking her brain to compile an intense smut scene and suddenly locking eyes with a mind reader. Writer’s imagination so crisp the mind reader sees himself getting pegged into another dimension for a good five minutes, never moving from his seat till he has to go pay his bill at the counter and his legs are all wobbly.
