honestly…. i’m so close to being done with my ouat rewatch and as ashamed i am to say… most of my qualms with it have disappeared over the years. like seriously, 2016 me would be horrified to know i now think it’s a lovely show. it’s just much better watched as a binge because the pacing works out better that way, and you’re able to get through the places where the story gets sticky a lot faster. there’s some pretty epic love stories in there, both romantic and platonic, and they make for some pretty great storytelling.

at this point i can’t even say there’s been any arc, save for r*mple/b*lle, that i’ve hated in the way that i hated many back when i first watched it. maybe the jekyll & hyde storyline with regina? but even that’s been more of an eyeroll than anything and i understand what they were trying to say with it.

anyway, i’ve loved this rewatch and i am very happy that i decided to dive in. 

it is three years later and somehow i am watching ouat A G A I N (i blame the studios that refused to pay their workers fairly for this rash decision i’ve made).

i have OOOOONE more qualm with it.

emma swan should’ve been allowed to drop some fucks and some shits. who cares that the show aired at 8pm on abc? i’ve never seen a character more deserving of saying “what in the name of fuck” than emma was. i mean… sent through a wardrobe to a different realm where magic doesn’t exist and her parents are a literal fairy tale and she grows up in foster care, never spending more than 6 months anywhere, is framed by her shitty boyfriend, left pregnant in jail; only to be dragged to a lil town by the kid she gave up in jail AND then find out that her parents are literal snow white and prince charming, and that she’s somehow, in many round about ways, related to just about every single fairy tale character ever?

loooord would the way i would’ve been cursing up a storm. poor emma.

and no character has ever deserved to curse out their writers/creators more than belle french
