ULTIMATE SHIPS CHALLENGE - [2/3] ‘Odd Couple’ Ships ↳ “He’s an idiot for breaking up with you.” “Why do you say that?” “I don’t know, I mean, look, we all know you’re weird, but you’re smart. You’re pretty. And you’re kinda fun.” “Thanks.” “Sure, and uh… why are you dressed like that?” “I was trying to compete with Brooke.” “Well, don’t… Hey, there’s Quinn.”

«I will build my empire on the stones, that people throw at me. You say I’m just Ric Flair’s daughter, that I’m the chosen one, that I get everything handed to me. That I suck, that I’m overrated, I’m this, I’m that. Why am I always in a title picture, you sick of me – guess what: I just come back bigger, faster, stronger every year».

something about the way the two people who couldn’t look at buck in the hospital kept reminding him that he died

"Buck is attached to this symbolism of couches being related to relationships, and that's not something that's actually going away anytime soon."

Buck getting sick of everyone checking on him, so he goes to “this is Eddie’s house, I’m not really a guest” and instantly falls asleep on his couch.

Also this episode proves to me that Buck (deep down) knew the kind of impact he had on Eddie and Christopher’s life. It also tells me Buck doesn’t fully believe the Diaz parents wouldn’t try to take Chris away if they could. That Chris needs both of his parents to fight for him, and what’s best for him, protecting him.

And Christopher asking Buck to help him find his dad. Bear with me because my mind is all over the place, but I interpreted that line 2 different ways.

1.) the literal meaning in needing Buck’s help to find Eddie. There was a stark lack of Eddie in Buck’s dream and I’m beginning to think that was purposeful. Y’all, Buck’s coma dream was not meant to be something he wanted to stay in in the end. Everything was off, everything was wrong. Including the fact that Eddie was not there. A reminder that in the dream, each ‘character’ talking to Buck IS Buck, including Christopher. So Chris asking Buck to help him find his dad, is Buck’s own subconscious seeking out Eddie and understanding that he needs to leave, because he doesn’t want to live in a world without Eddie. Without Eddie and Christopher together with him.

And 2.) another subtextual meaning of Chris asking Buck to help him find his dad. I choose to also hear that as Chris wanting to find Buck. I’m not sure if Buck FULLY understands his place as Chris’s other father. This line almost felt like Buck’s subconscious trying to tell him something. That Chris is looking for Buck, wanting Buck, needing Buck as his father just as much as he needs Eddie. And Buck needs to find that understanding in himself. To be more concise: Chris is not just looking for Eddie, but he’s looking for his dad, Buck, too.

If you can’t comprehend that the lack of Eddie in coma world was because Eddie isn’t anyone’s son or brother, than I can’t help you. You have his actual parents and Bobby in the dreamworld which highly emphasizes the differences between his relationships with both. You also not only have his actual siblings but his faux siblings as well. Hen and Chim are, at the end of the day like siblings to Buck. So you have his chosen family and his real one and ultimately it was all about Buck learning who he is and what he means to these people in his life. Most importantly his chosen family. The lack of Eddie is because Eddie doesn’t fit in any of those boxes. On the contrary, he’s a whole different box that we didn’t need to touch on yet. We didn’t see Buck having a romantic partner or a family of his own. If we did, that’s the box Eddie would have been placed in because he’s not a brother to Buck. They’re showing us the deliberate differences between Eddie and the rest of them. Eddie who was so openly grieving his partner in a coma. Eddie who’s life has changed for the better since meeting Buck, who then in return has changed Buck’s. The lack of eddie is actually tremendously loud and people don’t wanna hear it. This wasn’t an episode about romantic relationships, rather familial ones. And while Buck is his own little family with Eddie and Christopher, in time we’ll see that relationship’s significance too.
