“It’s a surprise, for you,” Kyouka says, voice tiny against the backdrop of her song humming through the speakers. The words tumble out like a reason, almost like she’s wary of the reaction she’ll get. She’s a bit wary if Kyouka were to be completely honest – always, to bare your soul to someone you loved, in a way that gathered an audience, was as nerve-racking as simply existing beside the person.
Kyouka can feel her heart beating against her chest, a warmness dampening her cheeks, her breathing shallow and uneven. She can feel it, pressed together now – funny, in suits, she still imagines them gracefully gliding across the dance floor. Kyouka, an awkward mess of legs attempting the impossible and Momo, an equally awkward mess of legs but more than enough charm and confidence to push through the dancing that they’ve been doing.

Kyouka reached out, her warm hand finding Momo’s, wrapping around hers. Her fingers intertwined with Momo’s and Momo took in a deep breath, a smile exploding onto her face, tears suddenly swelling in her eyes. Standing here, Kyouka’s hand in hers, the weather was the last thing on her mind. She was getting married to the most perfect woman in the world, to the person she loved more than anything, and Kyouka was staring into her eyes right now, smiling and looking up to her like Momo was her world just as much as Kyouka was hers.

“…nothing.” A grimace flashed across Kyoka’s face before she settled for an embarrassed expression. “It was just fun to be with you.”
Normally, that was enough for Momo to drop the whole subject. Fighting the smile that threatened to take over her face, she pressed. “What did you mean?”
“Honestly, nothing.” Kyoka let go of her wrist and Momo missed the warmth immediately. Lacing her hands behind her head, she shrugged. “Let’s wrap up and grab dinner after.”
It was the most obvious change of subject and Momo didn’t know if she should feel insulted that her girlfriend thought it’d work. “Kyoka.”
