I have NO IDEA what I just watched but my life has been enriched and my day has been made
THE BATS ARE DOING CALCULUS
I REPEAT: THE BATS ARE DOING CALCULUS
the word “queer” being used by someone who uses that word to describe their own experience of love and their cherished community should not ever sound the same to you as it does coming out of the mouth of a homophobe. acting like these two types of people are the same is unbelievably cruel
^^^
Adding on once again: there is no word for our experiences that has not been used as a slur and isn’t *still* used as a slur.
My mother never said fag but she sure could say “gay” in a way that made it clear that was what she meant 🙃
“Homosexual” in the mouth of a Southern Republican US Senator is more vile than “faggot” in the mouth of a 50-year-old gay man from Seattle, where they made an attempt at one point to reclaim the word. (Unlike queer, it didn’t really work.)
Hell. “Those people” in the mouth of a homophobic mom to a closeted gay teen is probably fouler than either of those.
Just chiming in here from over on the disability side of things, where we can testify that it doesn’t matter what you call yourself, your terminology will get used as a slur by people who don’t want you to exist because you fuck up their ideas of how the world should be. So, call yourself whatever you want, and don’t yield to the people who don’t care what you’re called, because your greatest crime is existing in the first place. They’re never going to have a polite word for you anyway.
I contain multitudes, and if frightened, I can eject the multitudes from my body at over 1,200 meters per second.
this is the only day you can reblog this post until 2023
I was hanging out with a group of ~7 people who were mostly or all poly, and mentioned reading More Than Two's examples of problems that come up in poly relationships –
"I was flipping through it and going 'this is trivial', 'this is easy', 'yeah whatever' (sometimes with unwarranted confidence) and then I hit the scenario where your partner never has sushi with you, he refuses to try it because he can tell he's going to hate it – and then he comes back from a date with one of his new partners and says, guess what, [she] got me to try sushi and it's really good! And I went –"
I did not need to finish that sentence, because there was a cacophony of groaning & agonized writhing & knees being drawn up to chins. People did NOT like imagining that
That escalated so fast I feel like I needed a safeword.
DOCTOR WHO • S05E10 ❝Vincent and the Doctor❞
my dad took some ancestry tests and eventually found out who his father was (and that he has 5+ siblings who are also finding all of this out) and honestly it's been pretty bizarre and emotional so far, naturally
but one of the biggest changes for me is no longer having to give the whole spiel of "oh i know i'm racially ambiguos but hey there's a whole story behind it because this that and here's my father's backstory"
like no i... i just have a grandpa from Nigeria now
...that's way less mysterious >:(
Congratudolences OP, your family are hilarious
I can't stop laughing, OP's grandpa was a runaway Casanova.
Has the BBC made any offers yet?
Is that William Dafoe?
