Article basically says that s2 will be greenlit if s1 blows up on Netflix when it drops there on May 31st.

To those who've already watched it and have Netflix, watch it again! To those who haven't, here's your chance, and spread the word! This show is incredible and unlike any other western animated show out there and it'd be a shame if it became yet another victim of corporate write-offs. Let's give Scavengers Reign a second chance at life!

This show is so good - a human colony ship essentially crash lands on an exoplanet teeming with truly alien life in an ecosystem like we've never seen before.

The art is gorgeous, the worldbuilding is fantastic, the story is compelling, and the voice acting and sound work are great.

Seldom do we get science fiction shows like this. It would be a tragedy if it's not renewed.

We here at Ad Astra strongly recommend Scavengers Reign!

more good news from tiktok: they’ve started blocking celebrities.

they’re calling it block party 2024. just blocking and ignoring countless celebrities who havent said shit about palestine. influencers, actors, anyone who went to the met gala, whatever, they’re getting blocked. and people keep talking about how cathartic it is, how good it feels, how they never realized they could DO that. there was some kind of subconscious law against blocking famous people, but it’s broken, and people are LOVING it. and it’s WORKING. a social media/digital advertising coordinator was talking about how ad companies are PANICKING, because they can’t accurately target anymore. so many big influencers, including fucking LIZZO started talking about palestine the MOMENT their follower counts started going down. and the best part? no one is forgiving them. lizzo posted a tiktok asking people to donate to palestinian families, and all the comments just said you’re a multimillionaire. put your money where your mouth is. blocked.

i feel like i’m witnessing the downfall of celebrity culture, right here right now. people are waking up.

PEOPLE ARE WAKING UP. so many comments saying “blocking x celebrity was hard until i remembered they don’t care if i die. it got a lot easier then. they aren’t my friends, why should i feel like im betraying them?” what a beautiful thing to see

does this not fill you with immense pride and joy

life advice: if ur cishet male friends dont let u call them babygirl theyre not worth it. but also this is dangerous bc then u’ll buy them a coffee at starbucks and they’ll say thank u daddy and u will automatically respond ur welcome babygirl and then the entire starbucks will be staring at u bc it is 2:45pm on a wednesday. this may happen multiple times. do with this what u will

i feel like im watching 2 wizards casting a spell to curse me

Every time I hear about the cruelty of the genocide in Palestine I'm always baffled. Not by the logistics of it. I recognize that white western supremacist leaders value money and power over brown lives. They always have. It reveals itself in every political interaction.

But I guess... The lack of humanity always stuns me. How far detached do you have to be to be okay with this? To know what you're doing and do it, not even saying "oh well it's someone else" no it's YOU! YOU are the one committing these atrocities! How do you get there? I can't fathom what greed and privilege you have to have to be okay with this. To think that this is a "necessary evil". Even those who AREN'T going to benefit from it (i.e. white liberal voters) have convinced themselves of this. How do you do that?? How do you see live action the murder of tens of thousands (with the intent of millions) and not like... That shit don't bother you? It don't... Make you question that the leadership you're under, that the world you're in, is not the way it should be??

Me too. Once people go this far and still claim to still care about human life, it’s like, I can’t believe you. You can’t happily backstroke in a lake of blood and convince me that your soul is in tact enough to really care about “the greater good”.

I think a lot of what's currently informing my fellow white people curdling like milk and shitting their pants when asked to interrogate their relationship with rap is the way many people (especially well-meaning white people) still can't help but think of racism as something that you get accused of rather than something that influences the entire world in pernicious ways.

like, I think a lot of people currently posting the most cringe takes about rap right now would very much agree that Racism Is Bad and probably even acknowledge that rap has been and is still widely maligned and devalues for racist reasons.

but that last step, acknowledging that your personal tastes and interests are also influenced by systemic racism, is where a LOT of people stumble. it's very easy to assume that because you consider yourself against racism, then your tastes and interests cannot possibly be at all informed by racist. if you're a white American, that's simply extremely unlikely to be true.

speaking from personal experience, I had to Work to decenter whiteness in my media tastes. when I was like 19 I listened to a podcast where a white Jewish man talked about keeping a spreadsheet of the books he read to make sure he was reading a roughly equal number of men and women, and I started doing the same thing to track how many authors of color I was reading. at the time I took pride in my belief that I was reading diversely, but when the year ended I was shocked to discover that people of color had written barely a quarter of the books I'd read. I had been giving myself way too much credit while still unintentionally prioritizing white authors, because white authors were the ones I knew best. so I started making an extremely conscious effort to seek out books by authors of color, both fiction and nonfiction, that sounded like my kind of shit.

music was extremely similar. I grew up a little white girl in a very white city in a very white state; nobody was offering me an education in rap or r&b or soul or hip hop. as an young adult there were definitely some Black artists I liked, like Janelle Monáe, but I had to take the initiative of seeking out more artists to find out who I fuck with. you're not going to like everybody, which is fine, but are you even giving anyone a chance? are you even looking?

racism has roots everywhere, bro. it's not enough to just acknowledge it, you have to actively get digging.

If i could add, as a Black person and music lover, you dont have to like every type of music. If people ask me what i listen to my answer is "Anything but heavy metal and classical music", because i broadly dislike those genres. But, i do like certain classical songs and songs by heavy metal bands that lean less heavy. I know for a fact that i LOOOOVVEEEEE numetal, because Ive taken myself to the edge of those genres and given them a chance and discovered why I dont care for those genres.

I cant listen to heavy metal because it gives me fucking anxiety🤣 but ive listened to it before and can appreciate elements of it. I don't care for classical because i prefer music with drum backings and bass.

Far too often when nonblack people say they dont like Rap, they're writing off the whole genre, when there's just as many genres of rap as there are of any other genre.

If you can understand the difference between numetal, heavy metal, indie rock, punk rock, prog rock, etc then you can explore rap and find things that fit your style.

And don't just find white artists doing rap styles you like. listen to black people, liste to the rap of the 80s and 90s, explore the history of rap and understand why the genre was created, learn its elements and fundamentals. Appreciate the art that my people have made and don't just write it off as too sexual, violent, money obsessed/etc because there's a lot of that in country and rock too
