It’s at times like this that it becomes very clear that some of you dont have high-risk loved ones...

My boyfriend has suffered with lung problems since birth after a premature birth and suffering from pneumonia as a child and regularly suffers from chest infections and other problems. Every day I’m terrified that he’ll contract COVID-19 and the future we’ve planned together will be over before it’s even began.

One of my sets of grandparents are both above the age of 80. My nanna suffers from kidney failure and my grandad has cancer. My mum, who also has asthma, isn’t allowed to visit her own parents for as long as this carries on, due to the fact that she’s a nurse, a high risk job, and she’s constantly upset by this, especially as tomorrow will be the first mother’s day she won’t have spent with her mum.

We’re scared of potentially passing it onto my dad (if we do get infected), who has severe asthma, as he would likely get badly sick and my grandparents rely on him for their food and supplies. They are extremely high risk and there is a chance that if they contract it, and don’t survive, our family won’t have been able to say goodbye because we can’t visit them.

You may think it’s all well and good that only the weak, sick and elderly are at risk of death, but when those people are your family and the person you have chosen to spend your future with, it’s hard to think the same.

Sending my love to all of you who are unwell yourselves or have a friend, family member, loved one who are at serious risk. Solidarity is needed at a time like this and it isn’t being seen enough. Everything is uncertain, but all I hope for is that this will pass.

Peace out kids x
