We went to a baseball game last month! (first time we've been anywhere since the plague started, lol--note Set's dual masks--we're both careful and have managed to avoid catching the plague at all thank god). It was my first time attending any kind of sportsball event and it was GREAT and I CAUGHT THAT BALL!!!! It landed right in my lap!!! I'm still super stoked about that. Our team lost but it was close and we had a blast.

We're getting closer to being back online! We've both been writing--Set more than me--and Set is working on a longer update post with Life News.

No bother at all! Yes, we're doing great. Mainly focusing on mental/physical health and Normal Life things like house projects, family stuff, etc., but we are both still writing, and still writing Megamind.

Also, we have six cats now. Two were unplanned feral babies that showed up in our backyard, one is a planned ragdoll kitten who is Set's therapy cat. Set wants to do a more comprehensive update post (in the next couple of months or so? depending on health) so I'll leave the story of it all for them but here's a couple of pictures.

white fluffy cat is Violet (ragdoll), tabby with white is Ragnur (scrounged from backyard) and tabby without white is Bird (also scrounged, and so named because she had been eating our birdseed before we rescued her)

I am planning on making a longer Life Update post, and I've got fic updates I'm working on, too!

@displacerghost and I are not on hiatus again; we've been talking care of my grandmother who has leukemia (the "treatable" kind) and just had knee replacement surgery on top of that. Also, my parents might? be? getting divorced??? No one is sure (....including them) but it is A Thing.

So we're not on hiatus again, just busy with Real Life.

Megamind Month gift fic for Set

Oops, an hour and a half before deadline local time

Warning for main character injury but it’s not that graphic

First chapter of a large ish because set’s prompt utterly ran away with my brain

Author’s first fic so feel free to point out any tags I’ve missed or other obvious first timer errors

Summary:  Roxanne has always dreamt of going to space and meeting alien life. She has dedicated her life to this, scrambling for funds to become an astronaut. When she finally makes it, things go horribly wrong. Yet, her dream is about to become reality, and her reality is about to be shattered.

Reading this chapter feels like watching the (ominous) and suspenseful first ten minutes of an action movie. It really revs up the interest and tension QUICK. VERY exciting!!! I’m super looking forward to this 💙⚡🚀⚡💙

I’m so glad this prompt hit you so hard and I love what you’re doing with it so far–it’s really tense and exciting! Ghost is right; it is like an action movie opening: the countdown, the takeoff–

–the single warning light that should not be on

–the OMINOUS NOISE and she turns to see the ship coming apart

I love Roxanne’s first blurred impressions of Megamind; I love him nervously babbling in concern for her injuries. The use of the medical log to give us important information in a concise, interesting way is really clever.

I’m REALLY looking forward to finding out what the plot of the story is going to unfold like–I’m already speculating to myself about it!
