If Snow White literally had “lips red as a rose, hair black as ebony, and skin white as snow,” she’d look like a walking nightmare.
honestly this sounds like the description of a vampire. Which would also explain how she convinced seven dwarves to let her stay with them. How she could control some animals to do her bidding. How she could sleep for a long time without aging. Why the hunter betrayed the queen for her, and why the queen wanted her heart, so she could be sure she was killed properly.
Shit, THIS is a retelling I want to read.

Κι ό,τι γλυκότη κι ομορφιά εις το τραγούδι δείχνει, τόσο φαρμάκι και φωτιά με το σπαθί του ρίχνει.
Erotokritos is a Cretan Renaissance ballad that I’ve been obsessed with since my early teens, and this particular piece was in the making for months. If you’re looking for mutual pining, clever princesses, and a swashbuckling Greek troubadour - look no further! Vitsentzos Kornaros already wrote it down for you 400 years ago. His work is so anachronistic, I tried to incorporate everything I weirdly associate with the tale: the Venetocracy influences, the Byzantine aesthetic, a dash of ancient Greece, some fantasy elements perhaps, and of course the all-black-everyday Cretan look. If you aren’t able to find an English translation (in verse!), you can always listen to one of the countless musical adaptations of the traditional melody.

Character is inspired by ASOIAF lore of Old Valyria and its Dragonlords. I wanted to try and create my own version of an Old Valyrian noble, how I think they’d look like, the clothes, the color palette.
I’ve been working on this on and off for the past couple of months, it’s good to see it finished. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Will definitely do a male version soon.

Technical details: images are rendered in DazStudio 4.10 with NVIDIA Iray, and postworked in Photoshop CC.
Made by me: tunic/dress retexture, with painted displacement maps for the side folds; dirt layers for the dress and boots; cape model, dynamic simulation and texture; chainmail skirt model and dynamic simulation; boot displacement maps for the creases and metallic details; padding bodysuit model; custom character face shape, texture and shader adjustments.
The rest of the items are third party models, textures and shaders, mixed and matched together to fit the envisioned design.
I saw this step-by step tutorial of how to Gird Your Loins and it needed to be readjusted.
Oh my gosh @crazyfanatic97 do you remember last year when we were discussing the logistics of how one might go about turning a prom dress into a murder dress? Well now we know.
