⋆ A drabble turned mini fic for @yamagucji
☄As the sun sets and the moon rises, you hold each other. After a long day, it's soft nights and quiet reassurances like this that make it all worth it.
☽ Yamaguchi Tadashi
He held your free hand in a loose grip, rubbing small circles on the back of your hand, occasionally kissing your knuckles while leaning back against your chest. Your other hand busied itself with his hair, gently playing with it, twirling the strands around your fingers and softly grazing your nails on his scalp. The show you were watching, volume turned down as the sun set, was left forgotten in the background as you got lost in each other's quiet comfort.
It's when he fully relaxes against you, head resting on your shoulder with a soft kiss to your temple and a small sigh.
"Tadashi?" It's quiet, the tv being the only noise besides the crickets outside the cracked open window. A light breeze brushing the curtains and drifting into the room. He hums in acknowledgement, close to dosing off from your calming ministrations on his head. A soft smile graces your face as he looks up at you with sleepy eyes, watery as he yawned. Yams pulled the blanket over your shoulders, burrowing himself between it and you. He murmurs to himself about how warm it was, whining quietly when you stop petting his head but stopping when he feels your arms around his waist. His hands enveloped yours, a little rough from years of practice but still soft in a way.
Having your hands clasped in his, he looks at you. He looks at you for comfort and reassurance. His vulnerability and insecurities splayed out in the open for you to see. You've never judged him for it, and he could never be more thankful for that. He rubs your knuckles with his thumbs when he asks,
"Do you love me?"
It's a question he asks every night. A routine neither of you planned to break.
"I do. More than you could ever know."
The answer was simple, but it was enough. A smile on his face as he kissed your forehead. Your grip on his waist tightened slightly when you ask,
"Do you love me?"
A cheeky grin crosses his face as he turns and you both move to lay down. Tadashi gently pulls you into his arms, his chin resting atop your head.
"I do. More than you could ever know."
