What do you think it's happening to Taylor's lyricism? All of her songs in TTPD are self-written, so we can't really blame Antonoff or Dessner. Is she surrounded by 'yes people'? Was she not a good lyricist to begin with? Has she allowed all of the praise that she's received from her fandom to get to her head so now everything she writes she thinks that is quality poetry?
i think it's got to be her producers just kind of agreeing with whatever she says/wants..... while she might write the lyrics the production/instrumentals are also lacking and are part of the reason the songs are all so boring. but i do think the fandom culture has also ruined a lot of her artistry
doesn’t rhyme, taylor!
this is all real . google it
you’re so right with your take on tpd and travis kelce omg. i feel like this is the first take i’ve seen on both that i’m in agreement with
unfortunately like the rest of swifties i have critical thinking skills
if you like dessert and hate antonoff you’ll like the second half but valid anyway
i need a palate cleanser before i go back in i need to boost my morale bc it is fuckin LOW rn

my rating of ttpd is a solid 5/10 and that feels exactly right

forever in awe of people who pay attention. people who wait for you while you tie your shoes while the others have walked away. when they continue listening intently while the rest of the group stopped listening. noticing your moments of silence when everyone else hasn’t. “this made me think of you” noticing things you never even noticed about yourself. people who say “text me when you get home safe.” people who make you laugh until you cry. childhood friends who keep in touch. people with genuine intentions. people who are soft when the world has given them every opportunity to turn hard. the “let’s get ice cream” at 3am friend. the turn up the music in the car and sing friend. people whose actions match their words. people who make the world feel less chaotic. kindred spirits. the trustworthy and honest. hard workers. good listeners. clear communicators. people who love you for who you are. people who don’t ask you to be anything other than yourself. people who choose you. people who stay.
ngl when she revealed it was a double album i groaned bc i don't have it in me to listen to 15 more of those songs
Critics need to stop giving Taylor a pass. She received a lot of perfect scores from critics for Midnights and she's receiving perfect scores for this one too when most of us know that they are NOT perfect albums, not even close. I'm kinda suspicious about these scores like.......... is she paying them or sumn?
i don't think she's paying them i think a lot of ppl are scared to criticize her bc swifties are fucking insane which sucks bc her artistry isn't what it used to be and i think she's gotten rly comfortable doing the same thing over and over again
omgg you are right about the speaking/rhythm pattern. like every song sounds the same because her singing rhythm is the same in almost every song. i also think that in some songs she sounds like she's talking fast rather than singing!!!
yea there's no like real melody to any of the songs she's just trying to say as much as possible with little room for production or instrumentation
