Something or Someone

@genuinelydecimated / genuinelydecimated.tumblr.com

One day, I'm going to change the world. Whether it's through one person, or through many, my words will resonate through someone's mind for at least a second. Within that moment, whether I know it or not, I have lived my life. That's all I want to do... 21||Aquarius||Science||Music||Art

I love Jun Mochizuki's work so much because it's filled with people in frilly gowns and/or suits with giant floppy bowties and chonky cuffs, and they all have impractical asymmetrical anime haircuts and giant stylized eyelashes, and they are all being put through unimaginable psychological torment

"Impertinent isn't a 12 year old word" TO YOU. It's not a typical word in a 12 year old's vocabulary.

But Percy isn't an average 12 years old. He's smart. He's beyond average smart. The only reason why he sucks at school is because they don't accommodate his dyslexia and ADHD, and even then he managed to get good enough grades to be accepted into a university after missing most of his 11th grade.

And to really nail down this point, please look at this quote:

Percy has a superior vocabulary, one that includes big words like impertinent. And it's all thanks to one Sally Jackson, who nutured her son's education when the system failed him.

The main reason why a huge part of the fandom thinks Percy is stupid is because some characters (cleary not our queen Sally Jackson) talk down to him, call him stupid, encourage others to make jokes about him being stupid etc. We should recognize that those dialogues are not a reflection of Percy, but of what those characters think about Percy and Percy's non-existant self esteem.

I love that in Catching fire Katniss comes to the conclusion the other tributes are trying to keep Peeta alive because they must see how amazingly perfectly wonderful he is. When in actuality that’s just her having a crush and everyone else recognizing that if Peeta gets hurt Katniss will go fully feral and unhinged and probably try to kill everyone and then herself.

This is akin all those hot takes about the 2k bug being an hoax:

"Remember when they told us every computer was going to crash on 1/1/01 and there would be chaos and then nothing happened?"

Yeah, I remember. And I'm sure every programmer and sysadmin that contributed the billion person/hour global effort to prevent it also remembers.

No one talks about acid rain anymore, either. And that's a very good thing.

see also START and START II, which significantly reduced nuclear stockpiles

International cooperation is actually so effective that most people don’t even notice it happening, and then erroneously believe it can’t solve anything.

Saw a booktok review for a lesbian book that panned it because it “didn’t depict the lesbian experience, only how this one character feels” and realised how fundamentally broken the view on representation actually is

If you don’t understand by this point that a book being about an individual person and their outlook is not a bad thing and actually what authors want to achieve quite a lot of the time and if you’re still treating representation as a commodity to the point you can’t accept someone writing about a group *they* belong to without placing a burden on them to placate every single person of that group, or, even worse, expect it to be a lesson to outsiders on why we are people too, actually, I don’t know if you’re able to be saved and your worldview will only do harm

I just wish people would accept that some children's books are supposed to be sad and that sometimes being honest about tough issues is more helpful for a kid than excessive happiness and optimism.

i feel like people got so weird about age gaps in this very abstract sense that now there's this taboo about being friends with someone who's a few years older or younger than u....like, i have friends in their 70s and i have friends in their early 20s and im always friendly with teenagers & kids too because they all deserve to have adult friends in their lives who they can trust! other people projecting their gross shit onto those friendships is not my problem

They had not been seen together in the museum galleries for quite a while. Monet’s “Women with Umbrellas” are once again side by side in the Impressionist gallery.

AND THEN THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER THE END!!!!

ok every time this post comes by i resist geeking out on it but NO LONGER so these women are probably the same woman and that woman is monet’s wife camille doncieux. he painted her a LOT. but fun fact: monet had this asshole friend named ernest hochede, and ernest racked up some debts, and like an asshole he basically just fled the country, leaving his wife alice and their six kiddos behind. monet immediately got alice and kids to move in with him, camille, and their two kids. at this point, monet, alice, and camille became my favorite probably historic poly threesome. they lived together, taking care of the kids. they were so poor that alice and camille took turns wearing the nice dress so they could go out with monet. when camille got uterine cancer and began dying, alice helped monet cope and took care of things while he painted camille over and over. when camille died, alice is the reason monet was able to survive. when ernest finally died, monet and alice married, and remained married until alice died. at that point, blanche, the oldest daughter, took care of monet until he died. anyway, the point is, the umbrella ladies are probably the same ladies, but as far as i’m concerned, there WAS a historically queer poly family in that household and they were wonderful.

this is a fucking joy

Do not separate!

The paramedic arrives right on time with her team; they quickly gather the fallen heroes, well... they're just students, but after this battle she truly believes they'll give them all their hero licenses in no time.

Fortunately, most of them are alright and conscious; only a few scratches here and there that can heal at home.

Although there are two of them that weren't that lucky...

"How are my students?" Eraserhead demands, startling the paramedic for a moment.

"Just one of them is unconscious and another badly injured, but they'll both recover soon. We'll be taking them to the hospital now."

The man sighs, trying to appear irritated, but she can tell he's very much glad to hear they all alright.

"Midoriya and Bakugo I bet," he mumbles.
