ran a mile and a half this morning PAIN FREE for the first time in a month 🙌🏼 i’ve been struggling with on and off injuries since March and finally took an entire month off to let things (hopefully) heal for good - now I’m ready to get some summer miles in https://www.instagram.com/p/CCBgml7pW0X/?igshid=kzq9lst5zq3z

cancelled races & no running right now (stupid foot) is making my marathon itch get even stronger🤭 Hard to believe it’s been over two years since my last 26.6!! Who knows when we’ll be able to race again, but I’m still crossing my fingers for the possibility of a full marathon in addition to training for Dopey 2021 ✨ (at Washington D.C.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CB_M8rmJpgk/?igshid=expdhm6w8wu5

You never think your worst nightmare will actually happen till it does.

Last week, an afternoon bike ride turned into the most terrifying day of my life. A pickup truck went through this stop sign, narrowly missed me, but hit my mom. We were both wearing helmets and her helmet was cracked on impact after hitting the road. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I saw the entire thing happen and was able to immediately help her off the road and call 911. An ambulance was there within minutes.

After a night in the trauma center, mom is now healing at home. We are all still shocked and the words “my mom got hit by a truck” still sound foreign to me. The world is full of big and scary things right now but this put it all immediately in to perspective.

Hopefully this can serve as a reminder to do the little things. Always wear your helmet! Be an attentive and alert driver! Never take anything for granted and hug your loved ones a little extra ❤️ Everything can change so quickly.

Happy Sunday. Looking for a world where old men in trucks don’t slow down and honk. Like... I haven’t even taken my shirt off yet!!!
