I tried getting help from reddit but no luck. So now my last hope is the SPN Family.

I'm in desperate need of new prescription glasses. Have actually needed a new prescription for a year, but couldn't afford it. I checked Specsavers website and took into account previous times. Best I can figure I'll need about 3000SEK (approximately 300USD) to cover the eye exam, new frames, and new prescription lenses.

If you can help, I started a GoFundMe. Any amount helps. Even just a reblog helps.

I'm doing a panel on how to write fanfiction 😆

So my town is having a comic con and entertainment expo, like a small version of Chicago's C2E2.

I signed up to do a panel which I titled, "Beyond Canon: Mastering the Art of Fanfiction Writing."

In the panel, I want to touch on the following:

  • Introduction to Fanfiction: Define what fanfiction is and its significance in popular culture. Discuss its history and evolution.
  • Understanding Canon: Emphasize the importance of knowing the source material (canon) thoroughly before writing fanfiction. Discuss ways to research and interpret canon material.
  • Types of Fanfiction: Explore different genres and styles of fanfiction, such as alternate universe (AU), crossover, fluff, angst, and smut. Discuss the unique challenges and opportunities each genre presents.
  • Respecting Canon vs. Taking Creative Liberties: Discuss the balance between staying true to canon and taking creative liberties in fanfiction. Explore the ethics of altering or expanding upon established elements of the source material.
  • Feedback and Community Engagement: Discuss the role of feedback and community engagement in the fanfiction writing process. Explore platforms and communities where writers can share their work, receive feedback, and connect with fellow fans.
  • Legal and Ethical Considerations: Touch upon legal and ethical considerations surrounding fanfiction, such as copyright issues and respecting the rights of original creators.
  • The Impact of Fanfiction: Reflect on the broader cultural impact of fanfiction, including its role in fostering community, creativity, and literary analysis.
  • Q&A Session: Open the floor to questions from the audience, allowing attendees to seek clarification, share their own experiences, and engage in discussion.

Throughout the panel, I want to highlight some incredible fanfictions that have transcended their origins and made their mark in mainstream media as books, TV shows, or movies.

If you know of any fanfictions that have been turned into books, TV Shows, or movies please leave them below! If you have any thoughts or insights on what I should cover in specific areas, I'd appreciate your thoughts below! 😊

Being demiromantic is so cool, it’s like I have built in anti-douchebag security

You don’t like the friend zone? That’s the only way on up my guy

I think some queer people struggle to realize not everyone is public with their identity like I've had remind my irl queer friends so many times not to tell people about my identity without my permission

"Oh I know them, they're cool with it."

Awesome I still didn't want you to tell them

"You don't need to be ashamed"

I'm not ashamed I just want you to ask me first

"They probably would have realized anyway"

Cool you couldnt possibly know plus its still not your place to tell them

Like I'm a private person and I don't want strangers to know personal stuff about me if I didn't tell them myself

It's not that I'm in the closet but I still would like to be in control of how I come out to people

Besides it hasn't always been safe for me to be out in the past

”i’d like to be my old self again but i’m still trying to find it” is such a baller lyric. like people don’t talk about that part of a break up enough. you can be over it all you want but the accepting that things are now different and you are not the same person you were at the beginning is sometimes the hardest part

Honestly, ever since becoming a fanfic writer myself I’ve become like 500% more understanding and patient about other authors’ update schedules. An author takes 6+ months to post their next chapter? Yeah, totally get that real life can get in the way. An author abandons a fic? Disappointing, but it happens- sometimes inspiration for a story just dies. An author apologizes about taking so long to post a 10k word chapter? Dude, that’s like 18-20 pages on Word single-spaced. It takes me at least a week to write an essay for school a quarter the length of that, and that’s with a deadline.

It’s probably the most important thing writing fanfic has taught me, tbh. How to fully appreciate the hard work someone else has put into their story. How important the role of the audience is to an author. And that no matter what, you are never entitled to demand more of a story that you are getting for free.
