Medibang Premium is out

So I wanted to write about the newly released "Medibang Premium" that we got today and what it means for people who use the Medibang Paint cloud service on PC or Android and apple devices.

This is all the more important info I've gathered from youtube comments, what's been going on with my own account (RIP past me for getting comfortable with a cloud service) and the official sites. You can get more info in their Premium FAQ: https://medibang.com/faq/#faq_premium12

I think it sort of makes sense that they are moving to a subscription-based model and I am personally more sad and slightly disappointed in this rather than angry. Cloud services cost a lot and a few years ago I wouldn't have been surprised if they switched over and even anticipated it back then. But now I've just gotten a bit too comfortable with using the cloud service itself and forgot to make a post about last month's announcement so this is to make up for that. Sorry for the late post, I've been busy and I completely missed the points made in the first announcement (I thought something else was going to be deleted), so I hoped the subscription service was more optional.

It essentially is but for those of us who have used the android/apple app for a long time and have built up files over the years (I personally have over 20 GB of files over the past 5 years, oops), things are going to change a bit.

an important thing that i feel like a lot of people don’t know when getting commissions is that. when an artist asks for visual refs of an oc, it doesn’t have to be polished art or anything it can literally be something like this

Yep! Even if it’s just a quick concept doodle, anything that communicates what you’re after is helpful. We can work with you to get the details right once we have a mockup going, but anything you can do to give us a starting point is a big help.
