Yes, Helen, Jane’s best friend who only appears in a few chapters and is ridiculously religious and they both make a promise to escape the school together but Helen gets sick and dies and before she dies she asks Jane to sleep with her while holding her hand the whole night.

Yeah.

There is nothing straight about this literary ship.

In the 1944 film (the one with Joan Fontaine and Orson Welles (!) and you’ve never seen anything so goth) Helen is played by tiny baby Elizabeth Taylor so ...
