The "can we not" jokes criticism hatred however you look at it are so triggering. Harry says yes to pictures all the time eventhough he doesn't have to and the one time he politely declined its all fans talk about. And I just know he lies about being online so he sees everything and probably feels so much pressure to say yes to pics. I feel bad for him
I think Harry has learned how to set some boundaries with fans who ask for pictures when he’s not up for it. I’m sure he says “can we not?” in a kind way—like a “is it ok if we don’t?”
He has said “can we not?” in an irritated way when someone threw something (their phone?) on stage. But the only time I remember fans being angry at him for not taking a photo was when he said no to a couple of Italians stalkers in London a few years ago.
Either way, people who get angry that he doesn’t feel up to taking a photo when you ask should really think about how inappropriate they’re being (and the ones who photograph him secretly after he says no are really the worst).
My request to fandom (and UAs) is to stop sharing stalker/sneaky photos. It’s the demand to know his every move that makes people chase him.
Damn... what you wrote about fimq really brought back a lot of the past for me. I've been a larrie since 2012 and i have never understood why antis have always gone through such lengths with their hate for us. Like most of us are grown adults now and they still act like children, then accuse us of being the toxic ones, when clearly the type of antis that doxxed and threatened Ellie are much worse. It was so bad that i even remember thinking if the ones who did that to her were part of a higher power in their label/management (don't blame me i've watched a lot of videos on conspiracies lol about the dark things the music industry is capable of doing), but after a lot of thinking i'm like wow harry and louis genuinely have awful fans. Harry - the nicest most chill person and celebrity whose motto is literally treat people with kindness - has fans that are capable of threatening someone's life for their beliefs, Louis - who is literally sunshine in human form - has fans that doxx people for believing he loves another man. And it all comes down to that, how the world is still disgustingly homophobic like you have said in the past few days. I honestly think if i was h&l and if my contracts gave me the freedom to come out, i would still choose to keep my love private from all the disgusting fans who would want to see it fail. That's why if they decide to never come out, i would completely understand it and respect it. And i'm sorry for saying this, i know you don't like swift lol, but their whole relationship reminds me of her song but daddy i love him "I'll tell you something about my good name, It's mine alone to disgrace. Like i also used to have parasocial relationships with 1d as a teenager, i think a lot of fans did, but as a full grown adult? That's just weird. And i know that h&l know not all their fans are like that, but it's still embarrassing how such a loud majority of the fandom is like that. Anyways, sorry Gina for sending you such a long ask. I just wanted to get that off my chest.
No apologies necessary (except for making me read Switie's lyrics LOL!). I think many of us feel the same way you do. Harry and Louis deserve privacy and deserve to share their lives on their own terms.

I don’t know if you’re on Instagram, but I just came across this post by Robbie Williams and it made me think of how Harry and the other boys are constantly being approached and even harassed in public. Robbie really puts it into perspective how it must feel for them to be the target of all this attention all of the time. It kinda broke my heart to read this. 😢

I honestly love Robbie. He's grown into such a thoughtful, mature person. And I think he's summed up this experience so accurately. No matter how much you love and are grateful for your fans, you're still a human. And we, as fans, need to be better about being aware of that.
Especially when they're not working. Especially when they say they're not up for a photo. Especially if you're thinking about following them around and taking sneaky photos of them.
His comments remind me of Harry taking a photo with fans the day Robin died. There's no way they could have known, but it breaks my heart a little that he probably felt he couldn't say no at the time.

I used to sing over you, as loud as I could as I drove, just enjoying the music, listening to lyrics that have been ingrained in my mind for years. Now I sing softer. I listen to your voice. I pay more attention to your inflection and pronunciation. I find myself listening more.

And that was just unacceptable to antis. One of them, especially. freddieismyqueen (her name is Ellie) was doxxed and harrassed so much that the police told her the threats made to her and her family were real enough that she should take them seriously. Here is one of the many messages she got directly from that person, and a couple of the Instagram posts that were made about her.
So she deactivated and deleted all of her videos.
So, her original uploads with the hundreds of thousands of views and comments are gone. But there are people who very kindly re-uploaded many of them. I don't know if I have them all, but I have a lot:

Harries have inspired me - yes, I didn’t think this day would come I’m a little shaken I must to admit it, it was unexpected lol - because they created a community on twitter where they theorize about what could be HS4 soooo here my two cents on the matter. HS4 will be white, I don’t know why but I have this feeling, at least I hope, honestly it would be perfect, white it's such a beautiful color, but it could also be blue, a bold and bright blue. Musically it will be a blend of genres as always, but I can see it being funky and jazzy, a little psychedelic with a great importance given to the instrumental part and lyrics extremely vulnerable. Idk how to explain it but get phil collins and stevie wonder, mix them togheter, add a respectful amount of pink floyd with a wink at the led zeppelin (the led zeppelin of Fool in the rain, that song is chaotic in an extraordinary way, or even think about "the fairy feller’s master-stroke" by queen or "White rabbit" by jefferson airplane, damn I need him to bless us with vibes like that, I need chaos) and sprinkle with a splash of george michael that never hurts.
Last but not least I need him to wear a lot of lace, it’s a need.
I love hearing people's theories about HS4!! Whatever it ends up being, I'm so excited to hear it. And if it's what you're imagining, that would be very cool.
Where Harry is concerned, Chaos and Lace (as opposed to Leather and Lace) as a theme could be awesome. LOL!

210 Days by cherrystreet (E, 16K) This author is a favorite, they’ve written so many good ones. This one is both really lovely (I especially love the letter writing back and forth), and really painful. Happy ending, but there were some tears shed before I got there.
my heart is breathing for this moment in time by usedtothebeach (E, 160K) Probably my absolute favorite time travel fic. I’ve read it more times than I’d like to admit, and every time I love it more. One of the things I like most is how organically the author weaves in canon events…every little moment is an easter egg without it being so obvious that it pulls you out of the fic. Anyway, this one is so moving and so absorbing, I hope you like it if you give it a try! There’s an 18K companion piece to it as well which is wonderful.
You Are The Blood by sarcasticfluentry (E, 176K) If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ve probably read this one. But if you haven’t, what are you waiting for? I don’t even like HP and I LOVED this fic. It’s a thrilling story and it’s full of ridiculously hot smut.

I loved the sense of the inevitable with these two characters — as in real life, they’re just meant to be. But first they’ll go through hell.
take my hand (and my heart and soul) by bananasandboots (M, 46K) This author has written a few fics I really like and Harry is just heartbreaking in this one so, yeah…I cried. Shocker, I know.
These Constant Stars by stylinsoncity (M, 31K) This author has written so many great fics and this one is really lovely. I also always like when one of the boys is not what he seems to be on first glance. This one has the hurt/injury, but they meet because of it.
The Dead of July by whimsicule (M, 117K) Even if you know nothing about MCU, this fic is a must read. Lots of angst, great writing, and what feels like very well-handled depiction of PTSD and everything else that comes along with kidnapping, torture, and amnesia. Good times. But there’s a happy ending and a 110K second part (with more angst and mental health struggles) that I haven’t read yet, but I’ve heard good reviews of!
Who Painted The Moon Black by throughthedark (E, 96K) This is the Hunger Games AU. It’s super intense, there’s a lot of dark themes (the E is not for smut, let’s put it that way), but there’s a happy ending. SO well written.
Black With Autumn Rain by Whimsicule (T, 93K) This writer is a favorite. If you like intense, creative stories, with complex characters and tight dialogue, you should read all of their fics. This one has the flavor of a Daphne du Maurier novel – dark, creepy, and moodily romantic. Plus a supernatural edge. It’s so good.

Hey there. I totally know what you mean. I have to say, I don’t tend to read this trope, so while I have SOME, most of what I’m recommending is going to lean more towards fics which have an element of hurt/comfort (or sickfic) in them. And….I tend to prefer long fics, so 🙈while I love all of these, I hope that there are some that work for you!
gold-skinned, eager baby by StarryDay13 / @daydreaming-sunflower (E, 17K) This was soft and tender and sexy and beautifully done. There were wonderful moments of gentleness and vulnerability as Harry awkwardly expresses his thoughts about his gender and his feelings for Louis, and as Louis reasons and holds space for who Harry is. I really just loved this one. And I cried. So that’s a bonus. 😆
and you still have time to be by loveroflou / @grimmpitch (M, 10K) Sometimes writers try too hard to be poetic, but sometimes their writing is just effortlessly beautiful. This is one of those kinds of fics. It's soft and intimate and full of so much perfectly-described moments of pain and tenderness. And to no one’s surprise, I cried. Link is to a download.
Lollipop by Speechless / @johnnymignotta (E, 29K I loved the first chapter, and had resigned myself to the fact that it would forever remain a WIP. But the author came back and made it so much deeper and more moving than I could have hoped. They did a beautiful job of exploring Louis' pain, confusion, and desperation. Harry was patient and kind, but never felt like a push over. Most of all I could really feel how much Louis loved and needed Harry, and how much that scared him. The writing is really sparse, in the best kind of way.

Ever Since I Tried Your Way by flowercrownfemme / @lesbianiconharrystyles (E, 26K) I loved everything about this fic, from the setting to the characterizations to the slow way Harry discovers himself and how Louis supports everything about him. It’s just beautifully written and wonderfully moving.
heart-shaped bruises by moonshinelouis (M, 2K) This was so sweet and touching and tender. I love reading Louis supporting Harry, encouraging him to paint his nails and be who he is, and reminding him that he loves him in every way.
At Risk, I Fold by clare328 / @bearmustard (E, 15K) This was just beautiful and painful and tender. This was a tough read because the author did such a great job capturing this time period (2015 canon). It brought back so many personal memories, but also they really captured the sadness, guilt, and frustration in a way that felt very realistic. It was so painful to even get the tiniest glimpse into what it might have been like for Harry and Louis at that time.

like a timebomb ticking by infinitelymint (M, 32K) This was written in 2014, before Louis actually lost any of his loved ones, but it might make this one too painful for some to read given the subject. Read the tags. Know that it DOES have a happy ending. And it’s a beautifully written portrayal of loving someone through unimaginable grief.
You Might Want to Marry My Husband by Rearviewdreamer (NR, 25K) Harry and Louis meet while Harry is grieving his husband’s death. Based on a real life story, this fic is really tender and sweet. The author does an especially lovely job with their depiction of widowed Harry.
how i imagined us by Eliane (M, 8K) Just a really beautiful articulation of the struggle that can come with loving someone and being in a complex relationship.
strawberry milk series by wankerville (E, 158K 3-part series) Read the tags, this fic isn’t for everyone, but if you get past that this one is very soft and gentle Louis caring for his boy as Harry learns to heal himself.
Lambing Season by @helloamhere (E, 25K) This is beautiful little emotional hurt/comfort fic and it’s one of my favorites. If you’ve ever wanted to leave your shitty work environment, escape to an idyllic countryside, and find love along the way, read this one.
Take Me Home (Country Roads) by Awriterwrites / @a-writerwrites (E, 87K) I wouldn’t necessarily classify this as a hurt/comfort or sick fic, but it does have elements of it within the story. Since it’s such a great fic overall, I’m adding it.
We’re What’s Right In This World by BriaMaria / @briannamarguerite (E, 49K) Absolutely beautiful writing. WWII, blind Louis, soldier Harry, boys in love…emotional hurt/comfort galore. Get your tissues ready (but there’s a happy ending, yay)!
Where Your Heart Is by anchor and tvshows_addict (freetheankles) (E, 154K) One of my all-time favorite fics and an absolute must read IMO. Chock full of hurt/comfort (both emotionally and physically), this fic is so moving and so beautiful and will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish. The fic has been deleted, but the link is to an epub download.
Little Technicolor Things by tekhnicolor (M,72K) This is one of those fics that I had to stop every few paragraphs and just breathe because the language is so gorgeous. It’s pure poetry and somehow this author manages to use descriptive metaphors that feel new and fresh and I just adore this fic.

Tired Tired Sea by MediaWhore / @mediawhorefics (M, 113K) Always a favorite author, this one is beautifully descriptive and moody and charming. I was anxiously waiting for this one from the first drabbles I saw on Tumblr. I loved the way Harry’s character unfolded and let Louis in, the way Louis made space for him in his life (and heart), and the way Harry’s character struggled with and eventually found a way to live and be happy with his fame.
Here In The Afterglow by fondleeds (NR, 87K) This author just blows me away each time they share something. There’s such an incredible sense of being immersed in the world they create. This one is so moving and painful and, ultimately, joyous.
an entire desert in our hourglass by tofiveohfive / @sunflowrsix (E, 20K) I told the author when I read this that I really appreciated the pain they wove into this story because they did such a good job making the emotions relatable –– even with a pre-apocalyptic setting –– so the feeling cut even deeper. Such a good read. And even though the tags said there was a happy ending (which there is), I still cried buckets.

My Lights Stay Up, But Your City Sleeps by PearlyDewdrops (E, 108K) Featuring lots of pining, really well done internal monologue from Louis, and excellent smut. It also has some really lovely writing that I felt captured the pain of mental illness/anxiety very well.
The Woods are Lovely, Dark and Deep by @helloamhere (WIP, 4 part series so far, mixed ratings, 71K) Amazing world building, complex characters, beautiful writing. It’s still a WIP, but it’s so worth reading (and the author says they’re working on more so…fingers crossed)!
When you say you love me, know I love you more by darkofthenights / @jimmytfallon (E, 2.4K) This is such a sweet and lovely fic. The author paints a tender picture of insecurity and intimacy and acceptance.
Make Your Words A Weapon by @helloamhere (E, 36K) I love everything this author writes. This one just really hit me hard for whatever reason. Maybe it’s the way they explore Louis’ anxiety and coping mechanisms and pain and the way he pushes people away and protects himself, but also wants someone to push back just a bit and love him despite all of that. And the way Harry is the perfect foil for all of it, while also feeling like a fully developed character himself. Yeah, it’s probably all of that. Plus soul marks!
Saving Symphony Hall by @helloamhere (E, 125K) I’ve recommended this one quite a bit because it’s just chock full of so much wonderful stuff – great story, great OT5 friendships, great banter, hurt/comfort, sexy smut…so much good stuff. A great read (also, there’s a terrific prequel you might want to start with if you like the concept of the fic).
Just Let Me by @helloamhere (E, 15K) I don’t know how many ways to say this author writes like a dream, but I can’t help recommending them again. The characterizations are so lovely in this one and I really enjoyed the pining and sense of hurt/comfort woven through this fic.
Take My Breath Away by @realitybetterthanfiction (E, 154K) This is such a wonderful, intimate characterization of Harry – you really get to see so many sides of him and this author writes them all so well. It’s action packed, funny, deeply moving, and has such a satisfying ending. You will be so wrung out after reading this fic – this author puts you through it, but it’s SO worth it. Great banter, great side characters, action, smut…it has it all.
And down the long and silent street by whimsicule (M, 86K) Similar time period to Victorian Boy, although this one focuses much more on the class structure of Victorian England. The romance here is not only between two men, but between men of very different classes – which only adds to the tension of the already intense subplot. This author always writes with great depth and the detail of the setting feels spot on.
Shake Me Down by AGreatPerhaps12 (NR, 209K) this fic will run you through the wringer, but it’s really a great read. I really like the way the author took the boys from enemies to friends to boyfriends, and how we got to see how protective and supportive Louis became towards Harry.
Fading by tothemoonmydear (M, 202K) Let me start by asking you to please tread carefully with this one. It’s a very well-written fic, but it deals very graphically with Louis’ character’s eating disorder. At the time it was written, some people felt it did not portray ED recovery accurately, so if the subject is at all triggering for you, please don’t read this one. If that’s not an issue for you, make sure you have tissues ready because I ugly cried through almost all of this. I read it years ago and loved it at the time, but it’s not one I could handle reading twice.
