Recently Chinese MOR fans have come forward and accused Nuno Resende of soliciting them for nudes and sex as well as of sending them nudes unprompted.  He is also being accused of forcing an underage fan to have sex with him.

For those who don’t remember Nuno, he was the understudy for Mozart as well as Monsieur Stéphanie and Süssmayr for all productions of MOR with a French cast.  He has participated in the Korean MOR tour as well as the Taiwanese and Chinese tours.  Most recently he was in the Roméo et Juliette Chinese tour.

In the document linked here are screenshots from Chinese fans who are either victims or have been given permission by victims to share conversations with Nuno.

PSA Nuno is a piece of shit. If you need internet validation that this isn’t just some Chinese witch hunt, I was there in Shanghai and Taipei for the 2018 tours. I met and made friends with these girls who are speaking out about this. I witnessed Nunos behavior that should’ve raised red flags but I didn’t think much of at the time. He was always very friendly to me, but then, I’m not his target demographic.

Instead of trying to address things, Nuno is only denying any wrongdoing in weibo and deleting comments from his instagram posts. trying to hide this from his non-Chinese fanbase. We’re not going to let him get away with that.

I spent many months following the original tour of MOR around France in 2010-2011 and hanging around with other fans and the actors, and I can confirm that Nuno’s behavior with young, pretty fans was always something that was whispered about.  I personally witnessed him getting into a verbal fight with a fan who was only 15 at the time who was known to be particularly hung up on him for reasons I now suspect but was unaware of at the time.  The 15-year-old started crying and Nuno held her while she cried, then the two parted ways for the evening.  Shortly thereafter he made a post on his facebook page accusing her of harassing him and encouraging other fans to be wary of anything she said.  A week or so later at the tour’s next stop I found that fan sitting outside the venue Saturday before the show.  She told me she had been sleeping on the sidewalk since Wednesday with her 14-year-old friend, waiting to talk to Nuno.  Over the course of the next two days I saw Nuno wave at her with a big smile, then roll his eyes when she had turned her back.  Other than that, he completely ignored her.  Again, I can only guess at what had happened between the two of them other than what I saw, but there were a lot of rumors and this was behavior I personally witnessed.

A few weeks later at another stop on the tour, I saw Nuno offer a ride to the theater to a pair of fans around that same age.  (He was running late and had missed the shuttle, so he was driving his own car.)  It was pretty unheard-of for the actors to spend more than a few minutes speaking to fans, so at the time I just thought the girls were very lucky.  I also remember hearing rumors around this time that Nuno was dating a teenager.  Furthermore, I was told by personal friends who I believe were about 18 or 19 at the time that they had slept with Nuno, and that he slept with a lot of fans.  By the time all this was coming to light for me personally, my program ended and then the MOR tour ended, so I hadn’t given it a lot of thought since.  

I’m absolutely devastated about what happened with the fans in China, and I want to make sure that they and everyone reading this is aware that this is not new behavior, and anyone who knows Nuno or has been around him with fans for a long time will not be surprised to hear this news.  I’m standing with the fans who were brave enough to come forward, and though I am unable to go through all my past internet history and delete all my praise for Nuno’s skills as an actor, nor do I retract my stories about him being pleasant to me personally, please know that I no longer support the continuation of his career in musical theater as he has abused the trust of his fans and the power he has over them for far too long.

This is a super old interview (2010?) but I just rediscovered it and thought I’d throw it up here. Sorry about weird translation mistakes, etc. 

Before Mozart, can we say you weren’t going anywhere?  

Yes. This musical literally saved my life. I had struggled throughout Europe for 10 years. I started with a group called Art Decade. Then, I was asked to do a solo career, but it wasn’t right for me. I had to start all over again from zero, at the bottom of the ladder, singing in bars and other places that were depressing for an artist.

You had hit bottom?

Yes, for real. I was lost. I didn’t know where I lived anymore. And to be frank, I even slept on the street. But, thank God, that never lasted for long. 

How did you arrive at such an extremity? 

I lived off small concerts that didn’t pay much. In Paris, I sometimes even slept on the sidewalk. I took off my jacket and covered myself with it. But [I also slept] on the beach, like in Italy. 

At those moments, what did you think of? 

I felt small. I always kept out of sight, because of pride. I got up at dawn to be sure of not meeting anyone. I cleaned myself up at the train station. I also asked myself questions. How, in my situation, how was I going to start a family one day? I asked myself that often. 

What saved you? 

Meetings. One day, a friend called to see how I was. She heard that I wasn’t well, and she agreed to take me in. But I always hid my situation from my parents. 

What event would you say was responsible for your plunge? 

I went to Germany, Brazil and lots of other countries. I lost my way a little because only art mattered to me. I didn’t think of money or of fame. I was convinced that my music couldn’t be mistaken, even if I didn’t eat my fill at night. 

I remember a New Year spent in Belgium where I didn’t have a bite to eat. My fridge was empty. As a last resort, I offered to give a concert without being paid, just so I could have supper. I was sick, but I wanted to eat. After my performance, the manager said kindly, “Tonight I can’t pay you, but tomorrow, count me in. I really liked your music!” And added, “Sorry, but the kitchens are closed…” Can you imagine? I was left without money or food, even though I’d done my job. I had played keyboards and guitar at the same time. I went home with an empty stomach, and unable to buy medicine. I went to bed starving with a 38-degree fever [about 101F]. Unforgettable. 

What stopped you from sinking? 

First of all, I have amazing parents who have always supported me. They sometimes sent me money, according to their ability. And then I kept a positive attitude. But I [still] sank slowly. 

What do you do today when you come across a homeless person? 

I give him money. I can’t look someone in the eyes and ignore his misery. And I also have scenes from my past that come back to me. Well, I was never a homeless person, strictly speaking, but I could have become one.
