He and Buck are still watching Charlie steadily making his way around the track when the woman – Lisa, he thinks she said – comes back with Christopher.
Buck notices them first, turning to lean his hip against the railing and offering a beaming grin. (It puts him closer to Eddie and Eddie’s not sure when he started noticing things like that.)
“Did you meet the horses, bud?”
“They’re even taller up close,” Chris informs them solemnly but Eddie can see the light behind his eyes – the same latent excitement from when he’d first asked about starting surfing lessons all those years ago.
“Just wait ‘til you get to ride one,” Buck says, pushing off the railing and moving to crouch in front of Chris. “You’ll be taller than your dad and me.”
Chris looks thrilled at the thought and Eddie finds his smile comes easier than it would’ve thirty minutes ago.
Chris is chattering animatedly to Buck about what he saw in the stables when Lisa beckons Eddie over. He gives Buck and Chris another indulgent look and steps away to meet her.
“Christopher seemed really taken with the horses,” Lisa tells him. “After the initial jitters I don’t think he wanted to leave.”
Eddie huffs a laugh. “Yeah, that kid’s pretty fearless when he wants to be.”
Truthfully, Christopher is the bravest person he knows. Braver than Eddie by far.
Lisa follows his line of sight back to Christopher and Buck, her grin transforming into something admiring. “You and your husband really lucked out with him. He’s the sweetest little boy.”
Eddie blinks, the words taking a minute to catch up with him.

BOBBY: If any person here knows of any just cause or impediment why these two should not be joined together in holy matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace. EDDIE: Yes! I do. maybe its me wearing buddie clown makeup, but given everything Lou, Ryan, and Oliver have been saying i'm still pretty convinced that Tommy is going to be Buck's gentle bi awakening to bring in the arc of his exploring his sexuality, and that at some point before the finale (or in the finale), we'll get a gentle Tommy initiated breakup where he suggests Buck look a little more closely at his relationship with Eddie, opening us up to buddie in season 8
