Philadelphoi: from the Greek Φιλάδελφοι meaning "Sibling-lovers", an epithet first given to siblings, spouses and co-regents, Ptolemy II and Arsinoe II.

Living at a time when pharaohs marry their sisters and mythologies are filled with coupled siblings, Cesare and Lucrezia grew up believing they could marry each other one day. Their father, however, has other plans to increase Rome’s influence— and his own— over the Egyptian court: Juan in the Alexandrian army, Cesare in the temple of Serapis, and Lucrezia in the pharaoh’s bed. But Cesare has more ambition than Rodrigo knows, and Lucrezia is more cunning than he’s realized, and the more their father tries to use them, the more they plot to reach their own goal, their own happiness.

a They Deserve Each Other shipping scale where on one end of the axis you have the “no one else is good enough for them” ships, and on the other end you have the ships that need to be together monogamously forever as a quarantine measure. whatever the fuck is wrong with both of them must be contained for the greater good.

So a couple weeks ago I did this poll about our collective participation in toxic fandoms. Now that we've talked about the bad a little, I wanted to do a second follow-up poll about our best fandom experiences, but I suspect that answers on a "least toxic" fandom poll will be much more diverse and harder to quantify, so I solicited some suggestions and this poll is the result. Thanks to the folks who commented there!

Basically: Let's SHOUT OUT Our Fandom Happy Places! Vote and tell me in the tags - which fandom(s) are you in that have just been awesome, happy, cheerful, chill places?

I'd love to know more about specifically which fandom(s) you've got in mind, so make sure you tell me in the tags!!

And Star Trek gets its own cause at least in my experience, and a few others I've spoken to, it's the most congenial big fandom I know of.

For anyone wondering, my personal fandom happy place is the Daomu Biji fandom (under 250 people obsessed with the same game/show/book/movie).

"We thought it was going that way from the very start of the first season. Neil Jordan, the creator of the show, denied it from the beginning but we were like "it's all over your writing man." It's in every single line, every single scene: these two are definitely in love with each other. So to me it's really a love story. It came as a natural progression I would say. I didn't judge the characters, it seemed very natural actually." FRANÇOIS ARNAUD
