Little bit of... everything

@pumpkin-lith / pumpkin-lith.tumblr.com

There's a lot of stuff going on here, some of it in French, most of it in English, everything a mix of what I find either interesting, funny or what I just want to be able to find again easily. And fanfiction. A lot of writers and fanfictions. Most of it by others, some my own.
Anonymous asked:

Roche also tried and was very eager to protect Ciri in Kaer Morhen...

I will say, I am VERY puzzled by this, and today's, less polite, ask as well. I assume it's because of an ask I sent inexplicifics about Flung to Catch a Star and Morvran ? I'll just say that : 1), I'm not deep in the Witcher fandom at all. I've never played the games, I watched S1&2 of the netflix show, I've just read a LOT of fanfic centered mostly around Geralt, Jaskier, Eskel, Aiden&Lambert, a little Yennefer. Most of those fanfics are Inex's or I went looking for them because I liked the way Inex wrote those characters. I had never heard of Morvran NOR Roche before, I didn't even pick up on him until a recent reread and I assumed he was an OC. 2) I like Morvran's character development in the fic, the way he grows past what the Nilfgaardian's court taught him. That's what I mostly meant by "rooting" for him. Yes, I could see him and Ciri get along once they're older, even for political marriage, an argument Ciri herself makes in the fic. I don't think that's what Inex will go for, true love and love-matches are pretty much the centercore of most of her works, but I was just surprised about how well it could go. Interacting with authors about the way you're enjoying their fics is good for the soul ! 3) and most importantly : don't tell me what to ship or not ship. You like Roche/Ciri, good for you ! You don't like Morvran/Ciri, good for you as well ! I'm a big adept of ship and let ship, and multishipping as fics takes you. I'm enjoying these works the way I want to, enjoy them the way you want to, and everyone is happy.

They're heeeeere. I am so happy, I was already extatic seeing the packages with our names on it, but actually opening them... Our editor and printer did an amazing job.

They are absolutely beautiful, thick, heavy, the detailing is as we asked, the varnish is perfect, the embossing as well... I am still so happy the crowdfunding worked well enough to afford the hard cover, it adds SO MUCH to the end product.

The main stress was about the images inside, of course, Vyrhelle spent hours calibrating everything with them but until we opened the books...

And it's perfect.

I am. So. Happy. They even smell great 🤣

Now off to sign them all, pack them, send them... Riding that happy high !

The thing beneath the waves is hungry.

Agen can feel it as soon as he’s in the water, a surge and a weight and a darkness that isn't dark as much as it is entirely foreign. There's a tremor of awareness as Agen dives, a recognition in the mind that folds around his, vast and impossible to grip. It sees him, it feels him, and Agen feels that in return like a small ground creature seeing the shadow of a hawk fall over it.

Fear is the first response. Anger is the second. Neither of them helps, and Agen sets them aside, reaches out with determination instead, with protect sharp in his chest. The seabed here is deep, dark for all the water is warm, but Agen can see a shift of shadows that are deeper still, trailing away into the depths.

Tidying my scuba photos folder and the feeling of staring into the depths, of seeing nothing but blue and black around and under, in a thousand gradients, until something starts to appear as you go deeper...

“Mand'alor,” the new Countess Wren says, and then hesitates like she caught herself.

Fifteen and bold, Jaster thinks. Bold enough to walk right into the enemy’s stronghold with only two guards at her back. Ursa Wren has her mother’s courage, and it’s wasted on a craven bastard like Tor.

“Countess,” he says formally, and offers a hand. “Congratulations on your ascension, and my condolences for your loss. Your mother was an incredible woman.”

Something flickers across Ursa's face, and after a second she smiles, reaching out to clasp vambraces with him. “Thank you, Mand'alor,” she says. “She always had quite a lot to say about you.”

Jaster snorts. “And I heard quite a lot of it,” he confirms, dry. “She could swear more extensively than anyone I ever met. It was incredibly impressive.”

One of Ursa's guards, an older woman in close-fitted red armor, closes her eyes like she’s in pain, and Ursa raises a hand to hide her grin.

“Thank you for the invitation,” she says, and flicks a glance over the other guests arrayed across the lawn. Her gaze is careful, lingers on the handful of True Mandalorians scattered around the edges, and Jaster can almost see her trepidation even if she has a good poker face.

“Concord Dawn is a neutral planet,” he says, soft, and Ursa freezes. “My invitation was honestly meant, Countess. You have nothing to fear from my people.”

Ursa swallows, but after a second she nods firmly. “I know, Mand'alor. You wouldn’t go against your own laws,” she says, steely around the edges.

Obi-Wan squeezes his fingers, mirth in his face but something else joining it in his eyes. “Tell me, my dear, has anyone showed you the hidden beach yet?”

“A hidden beach? I don’t believe so.” Kit cocks his head, not entirely sure what to make of the sudden change in topic.

Obi-Wan smiles, almost lazy. “Something for you to look for on your swims, then,” he says, stroking a thumb over Kit's knuckles. “You’ll know it when you see it.”

You should see how many photos I took in so many angles to try and show how inaccessible that beach is. Wayyy more than for the sunset, and I took a LOT for the sunset to get the lights right

“I was hoping to see the old Mandalorian citadels”

Obi-Wan pulls a face. “Unfortunately, they're still heavily trapped,” he says. “I went in as a young man once, sneaked in through a window when I very much should have been studying.”

- Airs No Oceans Keep, Chapter 2

I have the ocean, I have old abandoned forts and bunkers buried in the cliffs, and I have the go ahead by @blackkatmagic to send pretty pictures and I will use it.

I know you've said Airs no Oceans Keep didn't get a huge response but the setting just resonated with me, the colder water, the cliffs, I keep thinking about that fic when I go on strolls as the tempest season is hitting, so I hope you don't mind pretty pictures of agitated oceans as a love letter to your writing !

I would never mind that - it's honestly one of my favorite sorts of views, and this one is so lovely. Thank you for the pics!!

Say less, I live on a island, it's storm season, I have a phone and I'm not afraid to use it.

My name is Jesse, I'm a disabled trans man, and I really need help to move away from my unsupportive family and a state that's becoming increasingly hostile. I have a place to go, I just need to get there by the end of the year.

If you can help, I would appreciate it more than I can say.

Thank you so, so much to everyone who's donated! I can't believe it, you're all wonderful and I appreciate you so much!

Hey friends! We're about 20% of the way to our goal, and that helps an incredible amount already!

For those of you who missed my first promo, this is my very good friend Jesse who I've known for about a decade and whose health, family and housing situation, frankly, terrifies me. So we're fundraising to get him the medical and moving help he needs to be able to move in with me ASAP.

If you were looking for a way to help save trans lives, this is something you can do that will save a life.

Thank you everyone who has contributed and shared so far, you've already helped immensely.

The crowdfunding for my book trilogy is nearing its end after an amazing run. It is mostly for my french-speaking followers, as the books will only be edited in French, but if you want to tackle 2000+ pages of french, feel free !

That feeling tho when you find that fic writer that just absolutely fucking

  • understands the characters to their core
  • writes so well they–just so–they just—their writing is—-THEY WRITE GOOD
  • shatters your bad mood with a new update
  • writes a fic that you can read over again and still clutch at your heart like HOLY SHIT I FUCKING LOVE–I LOVE THIS FIC
  • writes a scene that has you all giddy in public and that one random stranger asks you like “ooo you are smiling :) :) is that a boy :) you are talking to :)” and you’re like “no I’m reading a Everybody Lives/Nobody Dies AU, please leave”
  • understands and portrays the characters better than the people who make MOVIES with those characters
  • amazing. just amazing. fic writers are awesome

@blackkatmagic whenever I see an update/new fic/anything. Go to fics when I want to feel good&have feels, awesome style, with characters and settings and descriptions that pull you IN.

Definitely the most rereads of all my AO3 history ❤

And now for something completely different:

“Commander!”

Fox sighed. He’d hoped to make it at least 24 hours before getting a complaint from a senator. “There’s a Jedi general here!”

Alright that he was NOT prepared for. His unit hadn’t been assigned to a Jedi General; they were under the direct command of the Chancellor.

There was no reason for a Jedi General to be here.

The General was a human or near human male, maybe older than Prime—Fox was terrible with natborn ages—with longish dirty blond hair partly tied back. The General bowed when he saw Fox, uncannily meeting his eyes despite the bucket. “Greetings. I am Jedi !aster Cin Drallig, Battlemaster of the Coruscant Temple. You are the Commander of the Coruscant Guard?”

“Yes sir. CC-1010.”

“Do you have a name you’d prefer me to use?” Fox knew his men were ogling behind their buckets.

He knew because he was ogling in his own bucket.

“…Fox, sir.” Fox supplied cautiously.

“Commander Fox,” General Drallig greeted and it was as heady a feeling as his batch mates had said. “Historically speaking, the Battlemaster must always be prepared for war. And when war comes, they take responsibility for planetary defense of Coruscant. So if it’s agreeable to you, I will be taking charge of the Guard instead of the Chancellor.”

General Drallig produced a datapad from one of his sleeves, open to a document officially transferring the Guard and signed off by the Chancellor. “For uncertain reasons, the Chancellor, despite being the one to brevit the Jedi into this war, does not want that fact being public knowledge. As my normal duties are valuable enough to keep me planet bound, and your mandate falls in line with historical precedent for mine…”

“We’d be honored to help the Jedi with planetary defense.” What else could Fox say? Fox hadn’t been impressed with the Supreme Commander of the Republic, and all of them had been disappointed to not be working with the Jedi like they had been trained to do.

“Excellent. Now,” General Drallig declared. “Let’s get you moved to the Temple.”

“Sir?” Surely the existing barracks were sufficient…

“There’s no point housing you here if we’ll be working together. Plus this building was condemned when I was a youngling; I highly doubt the Senate did much to fix this building up beyond perhaps painting over the mold. The Temple was meant yo house over a million Jedi, their families and dependents, and Temple support staff. Now there’s barely ten thousand Jedi, even before the losses at Geonosis. We have plenty of space.”

Fox and his men exchanged awkward looks before he remembered himself. “You heard the General; let’s move.”
