it feels dumb to have specific voice headcanons for a show with voice actors (and a show with lots of heavy accents), but fuck it, accent headcanons
charles made a conscious effort to mask any kind of regional accent he had a long time ago and now it's mostly gone. he only had a bit of a mainer accent, but his family definitely sounds much more mid-atlantic than downeast. either way, he had to learn to pronounce his r's.
magnus grew up in the southwest but his accent is very west coast due to how less regional the area is and from media. he is able to pronounce spanish words and names with ease. even though he doesn't speak armenian fluently, he can pronounce it really well because he spoke it growing up with his mom and grandma (who were both sticklers for pronunciation). however, he does not sound like an armenian american or even most other people his age within the diaspora. he talks like someone who learned the language from two older ladies who left armenia in the 50s.
when amber speaks khmer with her cambodian family, they say she sounds too lao. when she speaks lao with her laotian family, they say she sounds too cambodian. her in-laws still don't care to remember where her family is from and they just think she sounds like a valley girl when she speaks english. her friends in cali thinks she sounds midwestern now. she picked up on seth's "heh" and some of his other speech patterns.
melmord is an accent chameleon. no one can tell exactly where he's from just by listening to him. he's leaning heavily into the cali accent because he works in the entertainment industry, but who knows.
