I don’t think micolash gets enough credit for being one of the funniest bosses in fromsoft history. You enter his area after a boss fight with a massive creature made of limbs. entering his area requires touching the corpse and going inside its brain. the area is like a massive poison swamp except instead of gradually being poisoned if you’re out in the open for too long you lose like 90% of your health.

surely this boss is super cool and dangerous with all that build up. No. He’s a batshit insane scrawny wimp wearing a chastity cage on his head and spends the entire fight 1) running away from you 2) getting cornered and throwing really bad punches, a move that is easily sidestepped, and a move that can one shot you if you haven’t invested heavily in health 3) running away again 4) repeat step 2. He makes fun of you howls/moans?? & then when he dies he cries about how he’s going to wake up and forget everything not knowing he’s dead in the real world. The most pathetic boss of all time.

Do you ever think about how when Nintendo made Ganondorf Gerudo they were probably just making him like scary evil foreigner with a side order of Orientalist spice but actually this one character decision is like the root of any of the sympathies you might have for him as a character and those have really only grown with time between OOT and Now

Like not only did they humanize him by having him come from a place and a people but they made him a double outsider, among the Gerudo and among the Hylians, and then slapped a Triforce of power on that bad boy. He coveted those winds. I've seen an essay about how this is also an Orientalist sentiment meant to contrast the supposedly harsh and savage desert life to the clearly superior temperate European climates and that's legit but if the winds represent ease then what did he covet really????

Zelda's still the best Zelda character but it's weird that it's his awkward and unfortunate racialization that provides the leverage to make Ganondorf compelling
