I wish everyone would admit that classic literature is inherently difficult to read, and that you shouldn’t feel stupid if you don’t “get it”. Especially the dark academia/ classic lit fandoms and stuff. Like unless you have the vocabulary and pop culture knowledge of an 18th century nobleman, it’s going to be a tough read. It’ll take you longer to read; you’re not stupid if you’ve spent several months on a single book! And you don’t have to enjoy everything. It’s okay if you got bored after one chapter of Wuthering Heights, and couldn’t be bothered to read the rest. It’s okay if you want to read your favourite kids book for the 10th time instead. You’re not stupid. No piece of literature is inherently better, more “important”, more “meaningful”, or more “intellectual” than another. First and foremost, read what brings you joy.

HELP ME SAVE THE GREAT BARRIER REEF TURTLES

The Cairns Rehabilitation Centre  is a non-profit organization which allows donations and volunteers to come and help with the treasured sea turtles. The program runs all year long and lets the volunteers for a minimum of one week, with no duration limitations that I can see. My goal—my ambition—my dream is to go there and help, for as long as possible, to preserve the fragile equilibrium of marine ecosystems and to save lives.

Sea turtles are key elements of marine and beach ecosystems, which would be weakened beyond recognition if they ever became extinct. They are precious, more precious than we tend to believe. Yet unaided, stuck or stuffed with plastic, floating cruelly to starvation mere kilometers away from where we live, in waters teeming with predators, they will eventually perish out there all alone in the sea, if we do not help them.

I am but a twenty year old Canadian woman trying to make the world a better place and to prove, against all odds, that some people are still trying to beat the horrors of a system we took no part in installing- yet contribute, against our will perhaps, everyday, to maintaining. Will you help me?

Donate now! Every penny counts…

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING CAUSE!!!!!!!!!!

Writing an essay on a still undecided topic centring around 19th century Ottoman Empire is a fun challenge because I know next to nothing about that area of history and I need to do a lot more reading than I would if I was reading about European history, because I have been learning about that my whole life whereas this is a completely new territory.
