People will still fight about TLOU2 for days but to me, if you don’t look at the overarching storyline from both sides you don’t get it.

If you unapologetically support Abby traveling almost 1000 miles to, not only murder, but torture Joel, you’re completely forgetting everything you loved Joel for in the first game. He loved Ellie unconditionally and risked everything to save her.

If you incessantly support Ellie and/or hate Abby, you fail to realize that she is a direct foil to Ellie and that Ellie does the exact same thing that Abby did. Ellie also traveled that same exactly (almost) 1000 to take revenge for her beloved father (figure).

Both of them, I firmly believe, at least somewhat blame themselves for what happened to their fathers and both seek closure in their journey.

The point of the game is to recognize that the entirety of life is a grey area, there is no black and white, even though it might seem that way without seeing both sides of the story.
