Second, Russia has been interfering in western elections for decades. I consider Brexit one of their greatest achievement so far. If you think about it Brexit is Trumpism, same politics.. yep, 50% of Brits, you are not better, so stop making fun of MAGA for electing Trump, you are not far behind

So, when Russia interfered in the 2016 US election, it wasn’t that surprising honestly… but of course, Trump took it personally. He wanted his win to be about him and ALL HIM.. it wasn’t

So he proceeded to discredit US intelligence agencies in favor of the KGB ffs, because he didn’t like their findings about how Russia interfered in the election… It was not about the country, it was about his ego

Fast forward to 2020, Russia feeds Trump the Biden-Ukraine saga, thinking this will discredit Biden.

Russia puts pressure on Zelensky to help Trump out, Trump calls Zelensky… But Zelensky refuses to cooperate and be pressured. Russia gets mad, how dare Ukraine think for themselves, they are after all just a Russian satellite (like they see all of Eastern Europe).

Trump gets mad at Zelensky for not providing dirt on Biden and blames him for the 2020 election loss

Trump’s anti-Ukraine stance is in fact personal revenge for having lost the 2020 election..

Trump doesn’ t care about the country, or the border, or China, or Russia, he only cares about himself and his personal grievances…

And MAGA are fools enough to go along for the ride…

Honestly, kudos to the Colorado Supreme Court, because I think they followed the Constitution.

Let’s look at Section 3, 14th Amendment with our untrained eyes.

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

Ok… so it says “no person shall…hold ANY office” that has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” or “given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof”.

Trump is guilty on both issues. He did incite an insurrection (a riot with the purpose of overturning election results = insurrection). And even if you argue that he didn’t, he did offer comfort to those who did (“we love you, go home”).

Oh but he hasn’t been tried or convicted you say? Well, I am pretty sure that Confederates were banned from holding office due to being insurrectionist and traitors to the United States without official trials and convictions. This is a Constitutional issue, not a criminal issue and thus a conviction is not required.

Oh but we should let the people decide? Ummm, we should still follow the rules of eligibility. No candidates not born in the USA. No candidates under age 35. No insurrectionists. That means that Elon Musk “vox populi” fan bots can’t have him run for president, he doesn’t qualify because he was born in South Africa, so they don’t get to decide.

If the US Supreme Court is going to claim they are strict Constitutionalists, then… this is their chance (btw, love that the Colorado court quoted Neil Gorsuch in their opinion lol lol).

THE FALSE IDEA OF INDOCTRINATION IN SCHOOLS

This is controversial, obviously… but I personally think “Indoctrination in schools” is purely a political selling point without substance…

Here is why:

1. Honestly I wish teachers could indoctrinate students to read and spell, and leave high school with a solid understanding of mathematics, science, history, geography etc. But instead, people are leaving high school and still don’t believe in evolution, don’t believe in climate change, think the human race is 5000 years old and that the Earth is flat. In other words, they have learned nothing and so the chances teachers indoctrinated them politically are slim to none.

2. The average student, by laws of statistics, is C average. Which means that the vast majority of the population is not very good at school and is not paying attention enough to become indoctrinated by anything, as seen in point #1. Thus, mass indoctrination by teachers is not likely.

3. Most students see school as a chore and a place where they have to behave in response to authority, not a place to actually learn, and their only goal is to “survive it” and get out, which doesn’t lend itself to indoctrination… as soon as they step out the school door they return to any awful behaviors they learned at home

4. University education is not a finishing school..

5. University education teaches adults (18+) different perspectives so people can formulate their own opinions… Opinions vary greatly and change with the times

6. STEM university education does not discuss political views

7. University students are adults, professors are not there to teach already grown individuals how to be decent human beings… that’s the parents’ job

8. News flash to students, you still need to behave like a decent human being at University.. just like at a job or anywhere else

In short.. indoctrination happens outside of school….it is driven by environment, political groups, religious beliefs, personal beliefs and it is learned at home…

Young adults with no filter are airing out the racism they learned outside of school

Universities can require students to behave like decent humans, but that won’t root out prejudice, students will just hide it, till the time is right…

How to be a decent human is learned at home…

THE GOP AND HIGHER ED

I mean, the GOP is pure entertainment

So… first, let me start by saying that Universities have always been a place where free speech was allowed, no matter how controversial.

What is NOT allowed is bullying, harassment and hate speech that directly affects someone’s everyday life and in fact the GOP has argued this every time people side eyed their white supremacist speeches on campuses.

How to combat excessive hate speech is for a different post, but the GOP has forgotten their role in protecting white supremacist hate speech for years…

Someone please spare me the GOP far right’s moral stance on anti-semitism LOL LOL what a joke.

They are among the biggest anti-semites, their neo-nazi white supremacist groups.. but now they are going to tell me they are all affronted by anti-semitism? LOL yeah whatever.

This has nothing to do with anti-semitism for the far right… and everything to do with the fact they have waged a war on higher education for years…

They are just mad that academics generally don’t swing their way… so they want to re-structure higher ed..

Hey, not out fault their voters are the most uneducated and they have lost the white college educated vote… they want to blame higher ed for this shift, but in reality, they won’t be able to undo it…

I also want to point out the hypocrisy of GOP elite college graduates like Stefanik, DeSantis, Hawley, Cruz (all Harvard grads) telling the average American that they don’t need to do the same.. lol lol

Meanwhile, do you think their kids are attending regular public schools? heck no!

Cruz’s kids are attending elite “woke” prep schools lol You know, the ones that the average kid in Florida, Texas or Missouri is not attending

But hey, GOP voters don’t get it… they don’t get that these people don’t actually want to help them… the goal of people like DeSantis, Cruz etc is for the everyday Joe to keep working at McDonald’s while they educate themselves and get all those high paying jobs

I’ll be shocked if any of their kids end up going to your local community college or the state school down the road…

Israel and Palestine… where do I even start

1) first, let me clarify that I think all wars could be avoided… but out of all the wars that have been fought, some are more justified than others…

This war, I am sorry to say, is one of the stupidest… EVER, right up there with the Crusades

Literally, the populations themselves don’t want this… not to mention, they are literally the same people.. Israelis and Palestinians have been on that land since forever and genetically share common ancestry…

That these two related populations are fighting and dying over mythology, is just….

Oh yes, I am sure I am going to offend people when I say the Torah, Bible and Quran are mythologies… they are collected folk stories of the people of that region, that’s all…

Granted, this is an atheist speaking, but whatever, if there is one thing I agree with Marx on is that “religion is the opium of the people”

And it is, I mean, how many people in history have stupidly died fighting over whose imaginary creator(s) is better… ffs (it’s literally measuring dicks)

2) I refuse to call this an Israel-Palestinian war… it is not.. it is an Israel-Hamas war.

Let me also state, I don’t believe they represent the Palestinian people, just like ISIS doesn’t represent all Muslims.

Hamas doesn’t care about Palestinians, they don’t want peace or a two state solution. They live off of this conflict, literally, it is their bread and butter. Without it, they would have no purpose and might actually have to work for a living.

I find it despicable that Hamas won’t let Palestinians in Gaza leave but wish to basically sacrifice them instead..

I am SMH that Egypt won’t open their borders. Has Egypt forgotten they have taken part in some of this mess? Did they forget their role in the war in 1948 and then in 1967? That now they don’t want to open their borders and provide a temporary safe heaven for Palestinian refugees is beyond obtuse.

I don’t have a solution that will get rid of Hamas and spare the Palestinians and the hostages Hamas took…

But the end goal is - Israelis deserve peace. Palestinians deserve peace, independence and a state. There must be a two state solution.

Who is surprised that people who don’t respect or understand democracy and wanted to overturn a legal election by force, who want to win by gerrymandering and denying people a vote, who took away women’s right to choose are also unable to govern a democracy??

These same people think they can dictate rules even though they are 1/4 of the House, which in turns is 1/3 of Legislative and Executive branches…

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND COLLEGE ADMISSIONS

This is a tough one.

In theory, all socioeconomic status being equal, obviously the best performing and most deserving students should be accepted.

But of course, this SCOTUS decision clearly benefits the rich students.

It will benefit my child. Why? Not because she is white, but because we live in a top school district and she gets all the advantages our money can afford.

AP Classes our school offers, extra-curricular and enrichment programs we pay for, SAT prep courses, Pre-college summer programs at top universities, a private college counselor I just dished out 10,000 dollars for etc etc.

I feel for the students in downtown poor school districts who are equally smart as my child but will not get the benefit of scoring high on the SAT because parents couldn’t afford the Princeton Review prep or some other prep course and who will not have 10k worth of help in writing college essays and other bullshit.

How can we even ask those students to compete? We can’t… so unfair!

But let’s get back to the ridiculousness of today’s SCOTUS decision from another angle.

White GOP conservative voters thinking this decision benefits them…LOL LOL

I’m going to suggest it won’t. Why? Because if you look at the data, white students are not the top performing students in the country.

By merit, this will benefit Asian and South-Asian Americans. Rightfully so, they study hard and really are excellent students. It will be hard for anyone, including whites, to match their level of excellence.

But what angers me is the false premise these racist white jerks have used to reach today’s decision. They have ZERO interest in fairness… they just think this will benefit whites.

And in some ways, I can’t wait for the white conservatives to realize that they have actually been privileged all along and that entry based on merit won’t actually benefit them in the short term.

Everyone, including whites, will have to step up to match the excellence of Asians and South-Asians… how are kids from disadvantaged families going to do that, I have no idea…

So, I propose, that if we are going for meritocracy and fairness, then the US has to institute a federal, country wide, curriculum in K-12. Sort of like the AP classes. AP classes are a country wide curriculum. Same for everyone and the whole country takes the same damn test at the end.
