Please don't vote for the W*ndigo design. It's hella disrespectful

This is coming from a native, plains cree specifically.

To give this post some extra context:

RT has partnered with Full Sail University for a Grimm Design contest. 

Someone submitted a design based on the W*ndigo, a sacred spirit from Algonquian and Anishinaabe cultures. This is not okay, because it’s appropriation of Native American cultures (I checked, the submitter is not of those specific Native American groups), and also there’s just generally a massive taboo around the W*ndigo, to the point where you’re encouraged not to speak their name. Hence why the name is being censored. 

Submissions have now closed, and the top five were revealed a few days ago, with the W*ndigo design being selected as one of them. You can view them here, but voting doesn’t open until July 6th.

When the time comes, please do not vote for the W*ndigo design.

Also, please do not harass the artist nor RT over this. This has more than likely come from a place of ignorance, not of active malice. All of this isn’t widespread knowledge, to the point where Wikipedia makes no mention of the taboo against speaking it’s name. 

Please remember to be kind, especially if you’re not the people affected by this.

As someone who used to read a lot of hybrid fics and wrote a couple, I remember Jeremy was a chinchilla, Matt’s a badger, Trevor was an anteater, and Lindsay’s a red husky. Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with it sometime before Fredo joined. Though, this is the first time I’m hearing Lindsay as a penguin and I absolutely love it

Hey so if anyone in the Achievement Hunter Community is supporting Black Lives Matter now, but took part in putting Mica Burton through absolute hell when she spoke about her struggles/experiences as a black woman. As someone who’s hard of hearing, I rely on CC, I turn them on whenever it’s available. Sometimes I have to rewatch videos and ALL THE TIME, I have to turn up the volume loud enough that my family hears it in another in room and I STILL miss jokes and full sentences. It doesn’t matter how loud it is. I know it’s less possible for LPs, but for scripted shows, it should be readily available. And don’t tell me shows have it already, do you know how many subtitles are incorrect on the site? A lot.

2nd Anniversary & Giveaway!!!

Hello! I hit my 2nd year anniversary on Twitter the other day and now it’s this tumblr’s blog turn for it’s 2nd year anniversary!!! ALSO I’M SO CLOSE TO 5K FOLLOWERS AAAAHHH  WOOOW!!!

I’m sorry I haven’t been active or interested in BBS lately and this blog has been kinda dead for a while. I wasn’t even here last year when my blog hit it’s 1 year anniversary since I kinda left the fandom during that time period too lol

But I just wanna say, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU FOR THE IMMENSE SUPPORT FROM ALL OF YOU! I don’t know where would I be without the BBS fandom. I don’t think I would’ve ever become a thumbnail artist and meet some of the most wonderful ppl here. But here I am, still a thumbnail artist for Wildcat/Tyler! Who would’ve thought I would’ve become his thumbnail artist in just mere 4-5 months in being in the fandom and being able to talk to some of the youtubers that helped me during my very dark times. I couldn’t be thankful enough and I don’t think I deserve any of this! SO THANK YOU FOR ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES AND EVERYTHING!!! *CRIES*
