Day 26 of #drowgust is hack. Hicks the cyberpunk hacker may not look like much, but they can destroy a corporation with just their old laptop and a whim. Hicks especially likes taking out companies that overcharge for medicines and insurance, helping out the folks who otherwise couldn’t afford to survive. Hicks is autistic and isn’t a big talker, but they can type faster than anyone. Don’t get on their bad side! Hicks is a third companion for Hiroto and Reiher my other cyberpunk drow. Each one has a disability and a grudge against the system. Together they are Team CMYK. Maybe there will be a fourth team member next year. Day 23 of #drowgust is grave. Aaaa Moonrat I’m so sorry for making you cry! I’m a monster! 😱 The first time Moonrat Garrick saw someone he loved die was in the shadowfell, as a demonic entity pulled the souls from three members of the party during a deadly temple encounter. One of those souls belonged to Moonrat’s friend Coucou, a gnome raised by birds, the only one who understood Moonrat’s feelings about being a drow raised by gnomes. As the surviving adventurers gathered by the three graves, Moonrat broke down and swore he would find a way to stop anyone else dying. In that moment, his pact with angelic being Medriana was confirmed and Moonrat became a celestial warlock. Day 18 of #drowgust is venom. Nelda the swarmkeeper ranger is known as the Winged Witch of Whitewood. Many a foolish poacher has run from the forest telling frantic tales of a mute young woman who floats above the branches, stinging intruders with a mere wave of her hand. The truth is no less strange. Nelda is carried by her companions, a swarm of tiny venomous whitewood butterflies, who obey her sign language and even gift some of their venom for her to apply to her deadly twin kukris. Day 19 of #drowgust is dungeon. Here’s Baldor Lintellis, a character I made for the solo RPG Colostle by @nichangell. Baldor comes from the small village of Skirtingbourne in Atrius, but their quest for the mythic Rookstones has taken them down into the perpetual darkness of the Underfloor, a seemingly endless dungeon filled with vast copper tubes and terrifying monsters such as mice. Luckily Baldor, like the other children of their village, has been grafted with a Rook arm, which is handy for climbing along in the gloom. I love Colostle. It’s kind of like Breath of the Wild meets Truckers. Elves aren’t really a playable race in it but I love the idea of tiny house elves too much to pass it up. I kind of messed up the scale of the pipe; it’s meant to be much bigger, more like a wide bridge, but I wanted to fit it on the page to make it clearer. Day 17 of #drowgust is heartsong. Amaryllis Quell was drawn to The City Beneath by an undeniable calling. She sacrificed everything to follow her dreams into that red wet heaven, and it took even more from her when she reached it. Her body and mind have been twisted and broken, remade, regrown and shattered again, but that burning desire within her chest is still hot and bright. She and the Heart are one. Day 7 of #drowgust is queen. The newly crowned Queen Mexzanone of Darkhaven. Her aunts thought they could make her into a puppet ruler, but now their heads decorate the house’s battlements. Already the queen has a nickname; The Avenging Viper. Already she is turning her heart to stone. Yet she still remembers better times, when this throne didn’t seem such a lonely place. Day 6 of #drowgust is trance. Elves in D&D don’t need to sleep, instead they meditate for a few hours. Tumna the dusk elf scout is having a quick non-kip on the job. Speaking of sleep, August has turned out to be ridiculously busy, so I wasn’t able to start day five’s character, let alone finish. Day 4 of #drowgust is cards. Dorieskja Vorseaga wields the Trickster’s Tarot, a wild and intoxicating artefact that grants its keeper incredible powers of enchantment. I made the tarot using the solo RPG Artefact from @mousehole_press and it took a very different path to last year’s Hagheart. The tarot’s story involved a dragon, an evil cult, a forgotten goddess and a lot of backstabbing. All the good stuff! Day 3 of #drowgust is heavy, and so is Jacques’s holy book. Here’s gutter cleric Jacques Toutfair, street preacher of over a dozen gods; some forbidden, some long dead and at least one made up by Jacques himself. He genuinely believes in about half of them most days, but what he lacks in decisiveness he makes up for in passion. If he can’t convert someone with his sacred book (made of a few different holy texts painstakingly sewed and glued together along with two different demonic summons and half of a waterlogged beekeeping manual) then at the very least it makes a good weapon to hit attackers with.
