Oscar Piastri x Reader

Summary: Oscar just wants to impress his girlfriend, but those stupid sea cows keep stealing your attention

The South Florida sun beats down mercilessly as Logan’s sleek speedboat cuts through the turquoise waters of Biscayne Bay. Oscar leans back, soaking in the warmth and salty sea breeze while fiddling with the wakeboard bindings. Out of the corner of his eye, he catches you gazing wistfully over the side of the boat, peering into the depths.

“Looking for something, babe?” Oscar asks with an amused grin.

You turn towards him, eyes lit up with anticipation. “Manatees! I read they’re really common around here.”

Logan chuckles from the driver’s seat. “Good luck spotting one. Those sea potatoes are sneaky.”

i feel compelled to say something because despite the happiness i feel, unfortunately i also feel lando’s first win is a bit tainted.

for an organization to ban drivers from making political, religious, or personal statements and then personally invite a polarizing political figure is absolute bullshit. what a disgusting, vile, human being they welcomed into the paddock and i simply don’t understand why. i’m so deeply disappointed and my heart goes out to the women, men and women of color, and LGBTQIA+ men and women that were present and witnessed him welcomed with open arms into their paddock, garage, and sport.

i try not to get my hopes up when it comes to drivers - they’re all rich men, a majority of them rich, white men, but i am incredibly disappointed in lando. i didn’t expect him to condemn because i’m sure he was given instructions on what to say, but he could have been respectful without including praise.

The world is on fire.

For once, you mean that literally. You’ve been saying it for years, in reference to politics and pollution and the general temperature of the planet. But now, the world is literally on fire.

Charles is pacing laps around the whole apartment. He’s unable to sit still, even now. The tv is on, the volume low, photos flashing by on the screens. There’s a countdown, ticking along at the bottom of the newscast, telling you exactly how many minutes you have left before the whole thing falls apart. You’re not sure how they seem to know. You won’t take the time to find out.
