Story time! a few years ago my grandma found out that my sibling is nonbinary. Sibling was nervous at first bc it was an accident, and even tho our grandma fully accepted me as a trans guy, she presumably had no idea what being nb or genderfluid meant. and to an extent the sib was right—she was totally unaware that those concepts existed when we agreed to meet for lunch that day

but. but. she brought a full on PACKET of printed research and a pen. and asked questions. she took honest to god notes.

so anyway. thank you Grammy for loving your grandkids unconditionally. the feeling is mutual 💕

I regret to inform you that Discord's new Terms of Service includes an arbitration clause. You can find it here https://discord.com/terms/#16. This clause includes an opt-out, which I have transcribed here:

You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to arbitration-opt-out@discord.com within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs. If you opt out of these arbitration provisions, Discord also will not be bound by them.

These clauses are underhanded ways that corporations seek to deprive you of your right to participate in class-action lawsuits and your right to a jury trial. (This does only apply to us users ,other people still spread the word though )

Bad news, @noodelzmop. Arbitration basically means that if you want to sue Discord for whatever reason, the dispute needs to be handled in house. Specifically, in their house. If you don't get this email out, you're basically signing away your right to legal recourse if they do criminally shitty stuff to you, like with the McDonalds app.

I have been told that emailing "I am confirming that as of the date of this email, I am choosing to opt out of binding arbitration to settle disputes with Discord." With the Email you used for your discord account is enough for the notice but take this with a grain of salt as this was not said by a lawyer

So Fox News ran a story about how they think libraries are turning into drug-infested sex dens and I am shocked, shocked that I was never offered any drugs during my 15+ years working in libraries.

Where do they think the sex is happening?? Every single aisle is lit in that horrible LED lighting. The teens don't even make out here anymore.

As a state certified librarian I can assure you that you just have to go into your local library and ask if they're participating in the new Fox News Hysteria program smh. If they're not, you'll just have to renew your library card and use the fun and valuable resources they're offering right now, such as wifi hotspots, museum passes, dvd lending, mid level adult erotica, ebook lending, and printing! 😔

Oh, this isnt a browser thing, as the owner of my own website I have a Google adsense account so I can put ads on my pages and get money; I get paid every time people see them or click them! Across thousands of site pages I get.....a whole dollar a day! But at least it covers the site's actual hosting cost.

They leave it up to me to insert their code where I want an ad to be, but I guess they added a new thing where they just add more wherever their AI thinks one should go, such as arbitrarily between two slimes.

The entire AdSense service and system has been completely AI/bot run for years in fact, I actually have no avenue to speak to a real human about any issues with it and never have.

There are around a hundred pages of the site it even refuses to run ads on because their bots think Halloween masks and resident evil enemies are real gore.

There are no alternatives that will pay me even that much because Google destroyed or bought them all 🫠

In fairness to King Kong, if I had a tiny adorable primate in my hand I would also be very resistant to someone taking it away from me.

Something like this really happened a couple of years ago at the Mefou Primate Sanctuary in Cameroon, run by Ape Action Africa (AAA).  A western lowland gorilla named Bobo befriended a bushbaby for a couple of hours before releasing it back into the forest.

Incidentally, the western lowland gorilla (which has the best species name of all time: Gorilla gorilla gorilla) is the largest primate in Cameroon, and the bushbabies happen to be the smallest primates in Cameroon.
