There was a long amount of silence that seemed to fall on Eyes. They nodded slightly. Crestfallen at the thought of Fish having to endure the exact emotions and feelings they once had.

Fish looked a tad shocked. He kind of knew something had to be going on so he was eager to hear. As well as somewhat terrified. “Well, what happened? Did we get raided or something I-…” Fish paused for a moment and looked at Eyes for a second…was that one eye to the left always there? Fish didn’t know why but Eyes looked…different. He was most certainly Eyes, there was no doubt about that. Although he looked as if he’d changed in some way.

“Did…did it have something to do with you?” He asked.

Eyes shook his head at the mention of raidings. They attempted a sigh and clenched their fists together.

He gave a firm nod, trying to avoid eye contact with Fish. They shakily drew an X in the sand, barely holding back from crying.

Oh. Eyes didn’t think any physical changes occurred in the new campsite, apart from the relocation. At a closer look though the guitar did seem to have a different shape.

“Mrhm?” He shrugged. Maybe it was more of a weapon in this group than a music instrument? Eitherway the mutant began to twiddle his thumbs in boredom. Looking at Fish seemed to be the only other thing to do; Eyes was terrible at hiding emotions.

Fish knew something had to be going on. Something just…wasn’t right. It seemed like he was stuck in the twilight zone…whatever the hell that is. “Eyes is…is something wrong? Did somethin’ happen while I was gone?”

“What’s up, cutie?” The officer asked, looking a lot brighter and happier than usual, eyes almost beaming.

The mutant hid his blushed face with their hands upon hearing the comment about them.

“Hrmmh…”

Rogue chuckled at their embarrassment, grinning behind the respirator. “So, how have you been lately? Besides cute, of course.”

He made a so-so gesture, indicating he was doing ok for the moment. He tilted his head before saying some words in a questioning manner.

Eyes offered Fish a familiar musical instrument that had laid, unused, on the log for a while. They laughed a little, wondering what tunes Fish would play tonight.

They then sat against the log. Patiently waiting for any monologue or song that the other mutant had to offer. After a few minutes it would be appropriate enough to tell the harsh reality of why they were alone… Eyes hoped. Atleast some of the originals were still around. Mostly Y.V. Maybe Eyes shouldn’t tell Fish that part.

Fish chuckled as Eyes handed Fish his guitar “Heh, thanks. I dunno I feel like playing right now, i’m just gonna ruminate for now until I know what-…” Fish cut himself off and looked at his guitar. It was…different. The wood it was made out of was darker, the strings certainly looked different. He strummed on it a tad and it sounded nothing like how he played it. He looked at it with confusion and than looked up to Eyes.

“Hey uh…did something happen to my guitar while I was gone? I mean I wouldn’t be mad if something did it’s just…somethin’ ain’t right.”

Can you reblog if you don't mind me coming into your ask ic, even if we've got a thread?

Outfitted in a new scarf and gloves, he decides to show them off to anyone who’s looking.

“Mrrprpgh!!” He states excitedly, genuinely happy in the first time in a long time.

"Mrmp!" It seems like both Eyes were ready for the oncoming Winter. Wearing a large sweater and two layers of socks, the mutant seemed a little silly looking as it walked towards the other.

Witnessing Fish’s excitement to see his family again made Eyes feel overwhelmed with guilt. He was going to find out eventually. Delaying the inevitable would just make them angry at Eyes; but maybe, maybe they could give Fish a false sense of hope till that time.

The mutant gave a weak smile of approval, a poor attempt in making someone happy but an attempt it was.

“Hey, come on, bud don’t be so down. Hell if anything thing’ll only get better from here!” Fish chuckled to himself as he continued on, the two were getting close to the Campsite, and Fish would be happy as he could ever be to head back home.

And soon enough, they were there, he looked around and everything seemed just as he left it. He sat down on the log nearby the fireplace. At the moment it was just him and Eyes. So he sat down and begun to light the fire.

“I’m guessing everyone else is away at the moment? Hey that’s fine, guess it’ll be a surprise on their part when they see me again, huh?”

Scratching the back of their neck, they looked around in confusion. Maybe it was best to take them to the… ‘new’ campsite to introduce the others. They simply said some random muffled words and gestured Fish to follow them.

Eyes was being extremely protective though, constantly monitoring both their surroundings and friend. It seemed like something was bugging them?

Fish didn’t really understand why Eyes was being so…defensive. He thought nothing of it, though. But, Fish saw no reason to pry why he would be in such a state of uneasiness. He just followed behind.

“It’s certainly gonna be nice to see everyone again…hell maybe they can help figure out what the hell happened to me. Either way, I can’t wait to get back.”

Their expression quickly changed at the mention of the campsite. They slowly nodded, quieting down to let Fish speak some more. How could they explain that there was a bunch of clones walking around currently, as they spoke?

He certainly didn’t want to tell Fish that he failed. That the majority of the group had died or just never came back. Best to just tell half a truth for now. Right?

“Oh, well that’s good. It’s good to know that…I didn’t screw anything up while I was…passed out? I don’t even know, I just blanked and next thing I know I wake up and a long amount of time has already passed…” Fish sort of held his head. God, he got a headache just thinking about that. Whatever it was, it certainly wasn’t good.

“A-anyways, did anything happen while I was gone that I should know about?”

They pushed away the thought of explaining the clones for now, instead smiling at the joke and pulling Fish in for a hug. Eyes really missed his old ‘family’ and the simple fun they had.
He rambled on about a few things, even though Fish likely did not understand. They just hoped that a response would occur.

Wow, Eyes certainly seemed excitable. Sadly, Fish didn’t understand a word of what he said. Thankfully he got the jist of it. Eyes and Fish have both been through hell and back, and he’s happy as can be that the two have finally reunited. And Fish felt the same way.

“Heh, yeah i’m happy to see you too.” Fish put a hand on his head, trying to comprehend what happened to him and explain. “I honestly don’t know what happened to me. All I remember is blacking out and…someone calling my name…but, that doesn’t matter right now. What about you? Is the Campsite still safe?”

"Mrmp!" Eyes never expected to see Fish again! Almost everybody had died, only to be replaced by a strange copy of the originals. Even they had döppelgangers now. The mutant ran towards Fish, expecting a hug or some sort of reunion to take place.

Eyes? Oh thank god, Fish had finally found someone he’d recognized. He’d been out for so long that he had no idea what had happened to the rest of the mutants. Still, he was happy to have finally seen Eyes again. Hopefully the same can go for the other mutants.

“Eyes? Good god, I thought everyone else had died…it’s good seeing you again…er, no pun intended.”

I don’t think I’m gonna make it through this one. Something went really, really wrong.

I found a weapon with some kind of purple mist around it. Something about it seemed off, but it was a lot better than anything I currently had, so I took it anyways. I had to go through the Crystal Caves, but… it wasn’t the same as the last time I went there.

For one thing, all the monsters there had the same purple coloring as the weird weapon I found. They’re a lot more aggressive, too. One of those floating diamonds got really close to me and burnt my arm really bad. I’m surprised I can even still use this damn phone.

It was okay for a while, but both of my guns are out of ammo and I can’t see another gun anywhere past these damn crystals. I’m taking cover but it’s only a matter of time until they find me and when they do it’s all over.

I really didn’t want to die like this. Damn it all to hell. I finally found something to live for and people worth protecting, but I guess in this wretched world there’s no such thing as a happy ending. Not for people like me, at least. It seems my bad luck has followed me all the way to my grave.

I’m sorry, everyone. This is the last you’ll hear from me. I hope you guys find the Throne and have a better life because of it. You deserve it.

Mrphm!

Send one for my muse’s reaction to your muse:
☢ = falling over

“…Hmm?” Crystal stops walking and looks over to find that Eyes had fallen over onto the dirt. Her motherly instincts kicking in immediately.

“Oh dear! Eyes? Are you alright?” Crystal asked calmly, even though she knew that Eyes didn’t have the ability to respond back. She just wanted some kind of reaction from him. Anything. The amethyst’s eyes scanned his body for any injuries, trying to find a reason for why her friend collapsed. They had been out in the desert for a few hours now. Crystal assumed he fell over due to exhaustion.

“Eyes…? Are you still with me, friend?” Crystal asked again in a calm tone, gently patting his head while being careful not to touch any of his eyes.

Holding onto Crystal for support, the mutant got up and nodded slighty. His eyes were bloodshot from the sand that stuck in but apart from that there wasn't any visible damage.

They were incredibly thirsty though. That and the sun glaring in their eyes consistently could of been the reason. Whatever the true answer was, Eyes gestured drinking some water to Crystal.
