Of the Birds and the Bees

The mighty Empire of Bees slowly spreads its influence across the galaxy. The first step: military conquest. The second step: deployment of a princess and a drone harem to outbreed the native population. All, naturally, in the service of bringing civilisation to the babaric.

Princess Iris abhors the idea of having to govern an entire planet and lay eggs whenever she can. For years, she managed to wiggle her way out of taking on even a single drone or colony. But the pressure is mounting. Finally, Iris finds hope in the form of Count Flamingo, a handsome peacock of Granary Beta and tenth in line to the royal throne. He is not only willing to take on her government responsibilities so she can just stick to the finer things in life, but even agrees to help her heist some eggs from her sisters to keep up appearances.

In return, he can protect his family and people from the genocidal methods of the Bee Empire (Beempire). But Flamingo also has his own designs. He dreams of becoming Emperor, throwing off the shackles of the Bees to get to the top of the pecking order!

He just needs to placate the Princess first. Without getting emotionally attached to the enemy.

I struggle lately. But a buddy asked me for an evil Hello Kitty as a request and that helped to finish something again.

I'm doodling for myself these days, but idk if I want to publish that. Tryna nurture the joy of drawing for myself. But you get the Evil Hello Kitty. Feel free to use it noncommercially wherever.

This is kind of a concept piece. My idea for Bessy's Bed & Breakfast.

It's situated on the highest rooftop of the living district on the island she lives on, overlooking a gorgeous vista of the beach and some ominous pyramids in the waters below and around. Up there, any traffic noise is pretty quiet, and together with the greenery on the rooftop, her BnB is a serene little haven.

I actually drew very little of this by the way. I am experimenting more with assets lately, and with using them to quickly mock up or block in  more complicated ideas I have so that I can still easily communicate them. These are almost entirely assets from the CSP store or algenpfleger's brush packs.

Also, @nichtschwertart went in and refined some stuff, like adding the reflections of the pyramids. I really love how much they can add to any image with just a few strokes!

I love how this one came out. @nichtschwertart 's player character Ildinia in Glitch, here pictured partying it up in the club with some probably very illegal stuff to unwind after a hard day of being a single Mom!

I love Ildinia, she's the worst. (Hint: It's Glitch, they're all the worst!)

The immediate reaction of Steph upon learning of the cupid bees was to throw her character at the honey.

New Campaign, new Bessy! Her standard outfit has changed a little as she now owns a bed & breakfast and my research tells me that as such, she must now wear simple dresses and big cardigan jackets!

She also has many keys!

Bee cupids. Beepids. Cubees. This isn't easy to pun.

I've recently revised Bessy a lot for a new campaign of Glitch I've started with some new friends! And I wanted to make her Bane (she's dying of Love) a bit more... family friendly, you could say?

I made these for our Curse of Strahd server. Just a Discord server where we do fun stuff and schedule new sessions, as well as store some notes on former sessions.

In order these are: Tormen the orc paladin, Tamilo the aasimar warlock, Creed the tiefling wild mage and Heresy the tiefling monk.

Not the pinnacle of my art career haha... but I wanted to draw a little tribute for the 40th birthday of the little dragon Tabaluga from the franchise of the same name.

Happy Birthday, Tabaluga!

When I was a wee lass, I listened to "Tabaluga and Lilli" on cassette tape for hours on end, over and over, using dolls to follow the story with them. The songs of the stories helped me cope with the divorce of my parents and their fights, with feeling lonely sometimes, with the death of my father and with body dysmorphia and depression.

I never really got into the animated show, but the old albums still hold a lot of value to me. They and my love for them connect all my selves through time, no matter how different we are otherwise.

Thank you, Peter Maffay, for creating a sweet friend that helped me cope, grow and be happy!

Fun fact! I have taken up a new venture lately! It's a big part of why I've been so quiet in January.

I got myself a 3D printer and learned to operate it! I've been using it mainly to produce DnD minis so far, but heck, such fun tech!

My favorite product is customs because those are just fun! But I'm also uploading a huge catalogue of diverse adventurers and am planning to offer the entire Monster Manual in the future! So far most of my models are made by people I bought a merchant license from, but I am eagerly blendering my way to own models in the future!

So while we use the names interchangeably when we speak English, Germans actually traditionally distinguish between Santa Clause/Saint Nicholas and Father Christmas.

Father Christmas comes on Christmas Eve, visiting each house with children and asking them for poems and Christmas carols in exchange for the presents.

However, in the night from the 5th to the 6th of December, that's when Santa Clause comes visiting!

Instead of leaving presents under the tree (which may not even have been put up yet at this point), he puts some small gifts into the clean shoes of children. Many children actually clean their shoes with their parents on the 5th of December so gifts will be left in them.

It's an incredibly cute tradition when families grow up. My Mom and I often spend this time together, so we end up playing a really silly game of trying to sneak around each other to leave little gifts in each other's shoes at night!

Sometimes, I forget because we're busy, and wake up to find my shoes like this.

Mama has never forgotten about it even once. ♡
