Casting Off Drama
What does it say that I don't miss you as much as I thought I would. Sure, I miss the fun times, but I don't agonize over them or mourn their loss. It was fun while it lasted. Do you want to know what I don't miss? The way you would make me feel guilty for when things didn't go exactly as you planned that they should and then the way you would punish me with your resting bitch face and silence as though it were all my fault. I don't miss the casual way you would play on my charity and good nature and subtly convince me to spend money on you that I really did not have to spend. I don't miss you whining about problems that were 85% of your own making. I don't miss your claims of a desire to better yourself and your life while leaning on me to lead the way for you while you drug your feet in the most lazy way. I loved you. I was kind. I was giving. I was your confident and your friend. I asked for so little in return. But then you revealed your true colors and I just couldn't take anymore. I thought I would ache for what was lost. I expected to spiral into a bit of darkness as I usually do when suffering the loss of something that meant so much. But none of that happened. Perhaps it is because I wasn't truly surprised? I almost expected the monster to reveal it's ugly head at some point. Maybe it was because your abuses of me were starting to become evident? While I can never be sure exactly what it was, this I do know: I am almost relieved by your absence and the fact that I do not miss you much despite the so-called depth of our relationship speaks volumes about the truth. I wish you well in all of your endeavors and your future but this story is over now.
