This month at @nomagalleryfrederick, three pieces in mixed media related by process and materials.
Two of the three include elements of mixed media collage overlaid with acrylic paint, organic ash, wax, and beading on flexible plastic.
The third is purely an assemblage, the same plastic dividing and framing the negative space.
All materials are sourced from my own collection, including the seed beads, which are antique Czech glass.

Engagement.
Stele.
abstract and modern art haters are sooo snobby like klein literally Created an entirely new pigment and then painted a canvas in a way where the brush strokes wouldn't be visible. the insinuation that people with no skill could reproduce that is so annoying because unless you are skilled at color mixing and painting you definitely couldn’t lmao
i hope it's okay to add this because i think it hits the nail directly on the head
Honestly, it's like picking up a book and saying "I know all these words, I can type, I could have written this" like there's no middle step between the technical ability and the finished work.
The protector of Tomura Shigaraki.
"Kurogiri". I have many feelings about him.
The Science Teacher: Jaan, one of the human characters in my villain-centric novel. He is a very nice man who lives in a small village on the border of a vast forest.
Sketchbook, mixed media collage.
This little triptych is entirely scrap-based.
Found papers, wax, acrylic, foil, and elements from Cut Loose no. 1 & 2, projects of Twin Cities Collage Collective (1,2) and Wilder Collage (2)
Revenant.
Nerdanel: the Sculptor. Digital drawing.
Fëanor, spirit of fire. After @feanorianweek I need to draw the Fëanorians I didn't have time to draw.
Twin Stars. These are two of the powerful nature spirits who populate part one (and world one) of the villain-centric novel I'm writing. It's a story about 'big bad' type villains that spans creations. The spirit on the left here is one of my disastrous antagonist-protagonists, while the one on the right is the 'sibling' who cares about them deeply.
Caranthir for @feanorianweek — late to the party, but now I can't stop drawing the Fëanorians.
For @feanorianweek day one: Maedhros (not) coping. I love the duality of the Fëanorians as elegant, brilliant, beautiful artists and scholars—yet also terrifying killers.
Spirit of Light (and nothing). Antagonist-protagonists of a novel I am currently working on, which I refer to as my "villain-centric novel". Procreate drawing.
Four more in this recent short series of small, scrap-based sketches in mixed media collage.
I'm in Edinburgh this week and will be posting from here.
