At the end of the week, over the weekend, I’m most likely going to archive this blog and start over on a new one. For one thing, my tags are mostly dead; for another, this might help me get my muse for Chris back—and I feel like I need a fresh start anyway. I’m also probably going to end up dropping a lot of verses that I hardly use on the new blog and keep it to strictly Charmed-based verses and any closed verses my mutuals and I come up with.

This might be totally the wrong blog for this, but I was hit by a wave of nostalgia for one of my fave childhood shows (Strange Days at Blake Holsey High), and...

please picture either Billie Jenkins or Chris Halliwell caught up in the shenanigans going on at Blake Holsey High

actually, Billie would be the right age when the show was airing, so...

please picture a teenage blonde American witch who doesn’t yet know that she’s a witch going to a boarding school in Canada and getting involved with the Science Club when all this weird shit with the wormhole starts going down

Her active powers would manifest earlier than they did in canon—just telekinesis at first; her projection power wouldn’t appear until much later

If you’re interested, you can find my liveblogs of the reboot over here.

To sum it up so far: I’m watching the 2018 reboot, but I’m not liking the 2018 reboot.

This is already in my Important page, but here’s my stance on the fanon and fan theories I’ve seen circulating around Chris over the years:

I do not accept the fanon that Chris is more powerful than the Charmed Ones and his Twice-Blessed older brother simply because Leo was an Elder when Chris was conceived. Chris is a normal upper-level witch from the Warren line that happens to be half Whitelighter. There was no special prophecy about him and he is not the first-born. Elder is a rank of Whitelighter, not another species, so Leo being an Elder when Chris was conceived does nothing to boost Chris’s innate power level.
I do not accept the fanon that Chris is the true heir of Excalibur or was the founder/leader of a canonically non-existent resistance against Wyatt in Chris’s original timeline.
Due to recent events I do not accept on this blog the au/fanon theory that Chris is somehow the son of Prue Halliwell. He can very easily be her reincarnation while still being Piper and Leo’s son, if people are so determined to tie Chris to Prue.
In addition, please do not come at me with the fan theory that Chris was originally meant to be Phoebe and Cole’s son. That rumor was debunked years ago by both Brad Kern and other writers on staff at the time: He was always going to be Piper’s son (originally the writers were going to make him Wyatt before realizing it would be too obvious), and besides, the fact that Chris was already part Whitelighter is a dead giveaway that he's not Phoebe’s kid.

Victor is great and needs to be protected at all costs.

I just... I really appreciate that he’s making a genuine effort in this episode to reintegrate into his adult daughters’ lives, since he never really had that chance when they were growing up (because Penny).

. . . It is also now my headcanon that the Victor we saw in season 1 either wasn’t really their dad, or (to borrow from a WMG on TV Tropes) was under an illusion/memory-warping spell affecting him and everyone else who saw him at the time.

I love how it’s… canon that there’s an ice cream truck with this entity that sweeps up demonic children and it’s just… never mentioned again after the episode it’s introduced in.

Also, it is canon that there are full-blooded demonic children that look 100% human.

okay, but I rewatched "Sleuthing with the Enemy" two nights ago and...

me: *looks at how the fandom rags on Billie for putting Christy over the Charmed Ones and turning against them with her sister*

me: 👀👀 at the end of “Sleuthing with the Enemy”, where Phoebe helps Cole fake his own death and then lies her ass off about it to her sisters’ faces

me: Don’t even fucking try and tell me that one of the Halliwell sisters wouldn't do the same thing Billie did, because Phoebe already did. TWICE.

“Well it could be worse.” Melinda commented challenging fate.    Because she was a Halliwell, of course she was going to say how it could get worse.   “We could be chased by an Upper Level Demon.”

“Oh, you had to say that?” Chris hissed, sparing a sideways glare at his sister. “With our luck, now that you’ve said that, one will shimmer or flame in any second now.”

Would be easier to explain. Like…how do you say she’s alive but we can’t tell you how. Or maybe send them to be faeries too?

Yeah, and yeah, like... how would you even begin to explain that?? is the whole point of what I’m trying to get at here with this (and Piper was freaking out afterwards over the fact they came so very close to losing Kate if she hadn’t convinced her to become human again).

. . . Wouldn’t sending the parents to be fairies too just open up more questions for the police if a whole family vanishes without telling anyone where they went? (Granted, this is also me thinking of that subplot in the first arc in W.I.T.C.H. where both the local cops and Interpol get involved on the Browns’ case when Elyon and her adopted parents had been missing from Heatherfield for over a month (when in reality all three of them were back in their native planet of Meridian/Metamoor), but... ????)
