I have not moved from the mashups from Paris n4. The alchemy and treacherous both being about that scary moment where you just decide to dive in on a person that you’re infatuated with even though it’s scary. Then begin again/Paris and the absolutely joy with how she belted out she was so in love she might stop breathing? Yeah, I’m still not over it. Sooooo happy for her 🥹

i think what's interesting about down bad and the alien abduction metaphor is the line "they'll say im nuts if i talk about the existence of you" because it really digs into why this specific metaphor is so brilliant. like, her experience of being abducted as she remembers it is so special. cosmic love, heaven struck, sparkling dust, the chosen one, this world is bigger than us, etc. it's this really impactful experience that was really special and magical. but then it's just over. and she has no proof of that magic. so even though she knows it happens, when she tries to tell anyone about it, they don't believe her. and that's when you realize you're down bad. because you realize that even though it was an experience that absolutely happened, it wasn't as magical or special as you thought, because it ended so easily. you weren't the chosen one. you were just someone to do experiments on. and then discarded. sent back to where you were plucked from. that devastation isn't just in the heartbreak of being rejected but the realization that what you felt so sure was something special and magical was instead just something ugly. you were swindled.

i’m just really really happy for her. how good it must feel to be loved and celebrated so well, to have your needs fulfilled so completely, to be wanted so loudly and unabashedly. to have someone show up. to sing love songs to them in the crowd and then to run to them afterwards to embark on little adventures. to have a comeback this good, to have a second chance at a sparkling summer, to endure all that chaos and pain and grief during such a public endeavor and then have this be the outcome.
