Our first 1D Fanworks for Charity Auction was a success! 

Thank you to every single person who signed up to create, everyone who bid, all of the people who donated, and anyone who shared posts about the auction to spread the word! 

Many of the auction winners donated more than the amount of their winning bid, raising our total from $1936 to $2287. 

Thank you to @beccasafan for all of the coding work behind the scenes and thank you to @1dfansgive for running the charity drives through Just Giving. 

I hope to make this an annual thing, so follow @1dfanworksforcharity for updates!

Why haven’t people completed their auctions?

Various reasons. Most of them have been agreed on between the winner and the creator. For instance, I have personally been too caught up with other things to put any thought into what I want Phoenix @horsegirlharry to draw for the art auction I won from her. We’ve talked about it, and neither of us are worried about the due date on that. These instances are fine because there’s been good communication.

But there are other incomplete auctions for a number of reasons, and it’s just been a bit of a pain, tbh.

Are all the auctions complete now? Really Hope you’ll consider doing this in 2019/20. Such a wonderful thing.

About half of the auctions have confirmed that they’re complete. I’ve been thinking about it, but I don’t think it’s worth it to do this again. The admin part of it is just too much work for the amount of money raised and it’s February, but I’m still dealing with stuff.

You Can’t Change The Rolling Tide

Louis lives on a tiny island off the coast of England and runs a sailboat touring company. When Niall is sidelined for the summer after his knee surgery, Louis needs a temporary new partner. Who better to fill that role than Harry, recently returned to the island after five years away?
Louis is pretty sure there are plenty of better options. They don’t get along until they do.
Harry is bent over a thick book when Louis crawls into the tent. “Some light reading before bed?” Louis asks, his voice light.
Harry looks up. “Hmm? Oh, uh, I guess.” He holds up the book to show the cover: a guide to the plants and animals of the area. Louis owns several himself, but doesn’t recognize this one – perhaps a new edition?
“Trying to learn something I don’t know?” he says. He means to say it teasingly, but it comes out almost sharp, and Harry stills. Guilt settles in Louis’ stomach, replacing the knot of insecurity and competitiveness that had sparked there moments earlier.
“I don’t know about that,” Harry says. “I just find it interesting. And I figure this is a good time to learn as much as I can. I’ve learned a lot from you these past weeks.”

This fic was written for the @1dfanworksforcharity auction drive, which I’m so glad I could be a part of; it was a lot of fun and for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who was a part of making that happen, from the organizers to the people who offered up their work to the bidders and donors! 

The winner of my auction was the lovely @harrysnowwhitestyles, who helped me shape the premise of this story. I really enjoyed sharing a bit of that process, and I’m really pleased with the result. Thank you for your patience, your enthusiasm, and your generosity!

Finally, I won my own auction and so this cover was designed by the amazing @becomeawendybird. I love the pictures they chose :) Thank you for your work and your contributions to me, to this fandom, and to charity.

Like An Anthem In My Heart

Summary

“Frankly, there has been a breach in privacy.”
And oh.
It makes Louis relax at first. Because while he doesn’t really know what that means and why it’s got everyone up in arms, at least no one has died.
Except, when he observes the panicked faces and one mildly disturbed grimace once more, he suddenly realises what this is about, and dread pools in his stomach. There’s only one conclusion he can draw from their reactions – really only one thing that compromises Louis’ value as a player, unfortunately. There is only one thing that’d make their expressions that unpleasant, expressions Louis never wanted to see.
Because it’s not supposed to go like this.
Louis is playing his first World Cup, and he’s anxious enough as it is without the added pressure of being out and his best friend not being there. Plus, there’s this new, really sweet, rosy-cheeked, curly-haired string bean boy teammate that Louis definitely should not be crushing on.

He didn’t pause to think of the consequences, darting forward the moment a piercing screech left Louis’ mouth as he was swept up, entrapped by ropes and leaves hanging from a tree branch.

“Don’t move,” Harry warned him, afraid he would end up hurting himself.

Louis eyes opened wide towards Harry’s direction. It wasn’t recognition or relief that Harry met, but fear and confusion, as Louis realized that the creature standing in front of him, as he was hanging upside down, was not human and looked nothing like one.

Harry is a goblin living in the woods, entirely enthralled with a human named Louis.

What I’ve Been Waiting For by styleandsin (14k)

“Have you checked your twitter mentions lately?” Liam asks, almost hesitantly.

“‘Course not, I’ve been busy relaxing.” Louis gives Liam a smile, “Besides, isn’t that your job?”

“Well, I mean… Kind of, but you should check them.”

Louis sighs, “Fine.”

He picks his phone up from the table and takes a scroll through twitter, finding that apparently the book he was carrying on the way out of the airport was visible enough to see in the pap shots, and now his fans are excited. From about three minutes of scrolling and reading tweets he gathers the following: he and Harry share an overlap in fans, a lot of people are thankful for the book recommendation, some people say they ship him and Harry, whatever that means, oh and Harry Styles has seen the photos.

Or, Louis is famous for his signing. Harry is semi-famous for his writing. They’re both fans of each other.
