Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Miller’s Girl (2024) Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Jonathan Miller/Cairo Sweet Characters: Cairo Sweet, Jonathan Miller (Miller’s Girl) Additional Tags: Older Man/Younger Woman, Alternative Plot, Dubious Consent, jonathan being a little bolder than in the movie, cairo being a little more insecure than in the movie, Light Dominance Summary:

Cairo has handed in her mid-term exam to Mr Miller and the next day he makes it clear to her that it won’t work that way. The conversation turns out differently than they both expected. Alternative course to the plot in the film, and perhaps a little more what some of us were hoping for. 🙃

New chapter!

Surprise (for myself as well): I wrote another chapter for this Miller’s Girl fanfic and maybe there will be another one.

people who let me wake up to this get a special place in heaven. firefly_fox how does it feel to hold my life in ur hands....

my favorite thing about this post is that a handful of people have gone "oh wait! this is tangible proof that i don't need to be embarrassed about leaving a lot of comments!! i'll stop being so ashamed!" YES!! ao3 authors basically universally will die for people who comment spam. we love to see it and we do not find you weird or annoying At All.

think about it this way: we ourselves are weird enough to have spent several hours, days, or Months writing down this story. we are weird enough about the content to do that! why on Earth would we be mean and judgmental toward people who care enough to get excited about reading it?? we shared it Specifically For You To Get Excited About!

Hello Neil,

I hope you are well. 🙂 Myself and my partner, Sean, are getting married and we found this poem of yours that we both love. I don’t know the name of it, only that it starts with ‘This is For You, For Both of You’. Does it have an official title? And would it be okay with you if we included it as a reading during our wedding ceremony?

Thank you!

Sophie

Anonymous asked:

What type of role would you like to see Martin play next? Like, subject, character traits, genre, etc.

Oh, that's easy: a villain.

He played a villain in a comedy-like movie (Wild Target) and he played a kind of villain in StartUp and Fargo. But I want to see him play a real villain, like a Bond villain maybe. And I am sure his performance will be layered and brilliant and I'll root for him no matter what.

(Also, S5 of Sherlock would be nice; I need more John Watson in my life.)

hello Neil! I was wondering if the word 'ineffable' in good omens was a reference to hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy? thank youu :D

Avatar

I mean, this connection isn't out of nowhere since Niel also wrote The Guide to The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, aka DON'T PANIC: The Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Companion book.

thank you so much!! people are being very sarcastic about this but honestly ineffable is a specific word with an entire paragraph devoted to it in hitchhiker's guide!!

the joke in hitchhiker's guide is similar to the joke in good omens about ineffable and they were around the same genre and era

Well, yes. But the Hitchhiker's joke is in Mostly Harmless which was published two years after Good Omens. Which means that Douglas might conceivably have been doing a Good Omens reference, but that Good Omens definitely wasn't doing a Mostly Harmless reference. Does that help?

Just want to first of all thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Never been a fan of something where the creator makes so much time for us. My question is around casting Michael & David. I know you cast them seperately, but was there something you saw in them where you knew they would work well together? Or did that evolve through those first table reads? I speak for most in saying you created a masterpiece in bringing those two together - the dynamic and chemistry is so perfect.

Avatar

No. That was a surprise.

Michael had said he wanted to be in it from the very start. Around 2014ish. We both assumed he'd be Crowley.

Except as I wrote it, I kept thinking of the Michael I know: an incredibly sweet, sensitive, funny man determined to do good and to do the right thing, and I kept thinking of him as my Aziraphale.

I didn't really have a Crowley in mind until I was writing Episode 3, and Crowley came down the Aisle of the Church like someone walking barefoot on hot sand, and I thought, "David Tennant could do this." And by the end of the page I thought, "Crowley's going to be David Tennant."

I sent the scripts to David (and more importantly, managed eventually to persuade Amazon to let David play Crowley).

And then came the read through. It wasn't anything special to start off with, it was as if David and Michael were finding their rhythm, learning to dance together. And then, about twenty minutes in, they found their Crowley and Aziraphale beat, and whatever the magic is began to happen. And it's happened ever since.

I will happily take all the credit for it, as if I was the person who first decided chocolate and peanut butter would work well together, but really it's all them.

Still really funny that Marvel named a movie “Endgame” and sold it as the final culmination of the MCU where they killed off two main characters and retired a third and then were shocked when people started losing interest in the MCU after that
