THIS IS THE FUNNIEST NOTIFICATION IVE EVER GOTTEN
Normalize giving trans people a 40
fags are allowed to say dyke and dykes are allowed to say fag in the same way that youre allowed to run up and slap your sibling on the back of the head
I fully agree with the sentiment but also seeing this reblogged onto my dash by my sibling feels like a warning.
did they do it
yes I did
anti-egg vegans are always a hoot. like, she’s not using it. it’s not fertilized. it’s going to rot and attract predators. you want me to just throw it in the trash??
its still animal exploitation, is it not?
do you think a chicken with zero emotional attachment to the egg she popped out feels exploited when that egg leaves the coop?
if that unfertilized egg cracked in the pen there’s not a chicken who would wait 0.002 seconds to slurp that shit down raw and unseasoned but I’m supposed to exploit foreign children farming for slave wages and ship all of their staple crops across the world to me instead. and this feels like the moral high ground to them. alright
i feel largely similar about plastic ""vegan leather"" -- in recent years, each year, millions of pounds of cow hides have been thrown out as offal because there's less demand for real leather. none of the "cruelty-free" shit saved those cows. it just created more waste out of them.
honestly this is how i feel about plastic versions of things we used to make out of bone, like needles, childrens cutlery, etc etc etc. i think if we're going to have cattle (and theres no ethical path to Not having Some cattle anymore) then we should use the entriety of the beast or its disrepsectful, also using the whole animal means that theres no corners to be cut, if the skin is scratched you loose money, if the bones are weak you loose money, its just a good way to ensure the systemic health of the cows.

This is the English word I want to get tattooed on my wrist. It means “to keep breathing even though the water rises all around you.” English is such a mystical exotic language. They can fit so much meaning into so small a word.

I like the idea that most magical creatures like gnomes and elves also think that humans and human creations are a myth. Detroit? Detroit doesn’t exist. You said you saw a box moving on its own on big wheels, thimble? That’s ridiculous. Drink your mushroom booze and get back to sleep.
Guns aren’t real. Those are just stories you tell the children to keep them from wandering off in the woods.
I mean if in some folkloric traditions the other world is somehow parallel to our own, who’s to say the fairies all know about us? Maybe stealing babies was the work of one very misinformed elf scientist who accidentally stumbled into a hollow log and woke up in medieval France.
- The difference between a good photograph and a National Geographic photograph is often just a slight shift in perspective. Sometimes a ladder is really inexpensive tool (less so in my case, since I had to fly it to the remote Indian Ocean atoll of Aldabra) to obtain a different point of view. This proved to be the case on assignment for @natgeo in Seychelles a few years ago, when the ladder helped me create the opening image for this story. I have posted that particular photograph before, but I will post it again tomorrow for reference. Aldabra has the highest concentration of blacktip reef sharks I have ever experienced. The sheer abundance of sharks there is completely out of this world. At low tide they congregate in a small lagoon on a reef flat where a brisk current bathes them in cooler well oxygenated water. They avoid the deeper water off the reef edge where bigger sharks may prey on them. Time lapse video by my assistant and talented videographer @ottowhitehead

Hi! Croatian here. As an inland country, I found a job processing uranium. We have a lot of it.
God I wish I was processing uranium in Croatia
I think about this post every day
Hey, another Croatian here! Croatia has a coastline and I can’t find a single mention of uranium in Croatia. I don’t know what kind of paralel universe this person is from.
i used to be so good at writing strong, thoroughly-researched, thoroughly-edited essays.
as a kid in hs, my teacher literally came up to me, holding my 40 page essay on the intersection of the European witch hunts and capitalism/exploitation/gender roles (it was supposed to be 7 pages...whoops) and went like "this is literally a master's-degree level thesis. what are you doing?? you could literally use this as your final dissertation in a master's program, what the fuck."
NOW??? NOW?? you'd think I'd be oh so skilled. but alas. i can barely piece together two ideas. adhd skill-regression is so so real. im SOBBING
The skill can come back and it often does. It is not unusual for it skill recedes during stressful and painful times. Maybe you just need more stability/safety/kind people around you.
I have been through something similar a few times in my life with writing, yoga, studying...
Admittedly, my life is always financially and socially precarious, so my notion of stability currently just means "enough money to pay the rent and food for the next few months."
It is hard to hold onto anything when you have to fight for survival all the time, either materially or emotionally.
Wow, uh. Okay, I'm gonna need a minute to process "It is hard to hold onto anything when you have to fight for survival all the time...". You're genuinely rewiring my brain is we speak.
Thank you, this means a lot to hear. <3
Thank you as well. We have to help each other in this hellscape whenever we can.
many years ago me and best friend were traipsing around the local history museum . the museum had a long overlooked mummy room on the third floor
the sarcophagus on display was open, the elaborate lid hanging a foot above the casket to barely reveal the mummy inside, like;
and bestfriend said, Sometimes they wrote messages under the lid for the Dead to read ,
and she laid down on the dirty museum carpet next to the glass case , patting the ground next to her for me to follow suit . sure enough, the underside of the casket lid was covered in inked characters , a brochure of directions to the afterlife in case they woke up all organless and confused
someone else wandered in to the little mummy room and asked if we were ok. she said, Come check this out. so he laid down on the other side.
i crossed my arms over my chest , and so did they . four bodies , seeing a message intended for one; we love you, we miss you, we hope you find your way
we did the best we could to extract the perfect columbo reaction gif, and here it is - been wanting to make this for bloody weeks
Black coffee enjoyers fighting the longest war known to man
big pest
the fact that the posts are three minutes apart
there is a huge difference between criticizing an institution and criticizing individual behavior. i can criticize the makeup industry without criticizing the 14 year old girl who uses concealer because she’s self-conscious about her acne; i can criticize the plastic surgery industry without vilifying the woman who decided to get a nose job after two decades of pointed comments and bullying. it is intellectually dishonest to respond to an institutional criticism as if it were a personal attack; on the flip side, it is cruel and unnecessary to leverage personal attacks in the name of institutional criticism
if i see one (1) more person respond to a perfectly reasonable beauty-industry-critical sentiment with “but i personally enjoy eyeshadow. why are you attacking people who like eyeshadow :(” or “exactly, all women who wear makeup are miserable and brainwashed” i am going to climb a tree and bite the top of it
