Opposites attract

Ariel was hanging out at the bar, wearing her leather jacket. She sipped her drink quietly and just thought to herself. Every so often she’d say a simple, “Fuck off,” to any guy trying to hit on her. Knowing the bartender enough, he’d also help with getting guys to leave her alone if it got to be too much.

She did notice the musician playing that night, definitely was someone she didn’t recognize as someone who played there before. Smiling, she sipped her drink and listened.

“Oh, so it’s to be nice?”

Being busy for weeks on end with orders from new clients, Rose felt incredibly guilty for not spending enough time with the twins. She decided to take a few hours off and pick them up from school- it was the least she could do. Kyle agreed and made sure to watch her orders while she was gone.

She drove up as Kyle normally would and waited for them, playing soft, lighthearted music from the car stereo.

Kyle put her food on the table. “Here you go.”

Jason refilled a customer’s cup with coffee, smiling as always. Although a late night, he still stayed positive and happy around everyone. There were a few customers in the diner, so Jason had plenty of conversations with each of them in between bringing what they ordered. When he heard the bell on the door ring, he looked over and greeted the new customer, “Hello! Have a seat anywhere you’d like, I’ll be right with you, sweetie.”

“Why don’t you get dressed?”

“Alright.” He smiled and went to his room to get dressed.

He went back into his human disguise and got dressed.

Soon enough he was dressed and left the room.

Earnest was waiting for him. “Ready to go?”

“Yep!”

He bowed and offered his hand.

Jason smiled and held his hand.

He led him out the door.

He followed along.

“So, Where would you like to go first?”

“Mm.. I don’t know. Maybe we can just walk around and find one?”

“Alright.” He smiled and kissed his cheek.

He smiled and lead him down a street.

He hummed softly and admired the scenery.

She giggled. “My outfit will be really cute, too.”

“Did you need any help with getting ready beforehand?”

“Oh, no I’m okay. We have a makeup person there.”

“Alright, just checking.” She smiled.

“Thank you for offering.”

She kissed her cheek again.

She smiled wide.

“I love you.”

“I love you too!”

She smiled.

Jacki seemed confused. “But you know that already.”

“It’s nice to remind each other.”

She shrugged. “It just is.”

“I don’t understand.”

“So where do you live?” He knew, he just didn’t want to give it away.

She did her best to explain where it was.

He drove her to the mansion. “Nice place.”

“Thanks, it kinda why I haven’t just left.” She started to get out of the car.

“See ya, kid.”

“See ya, thanks for the ride.”

“No problem.” He drove off. Kyle walked outside.

“There you are, Jeez.”

She walked over. “Sorry, I didn’t realize the time.”

“It’s fine. You get work done?” He let her inside.

She nodded. “Yea, I got some done.”

“Cool. You want dinner or did you eat at your friend’s house?”

“I want some dinner.”

“What can I make you?”

She shrugged. “I’m fine with anything.”

“Alright.” He went to the kitchen to cook.

She went to see if Rose was still working.

Rose was asleep at her work desk. Four empty mugs were now next to her.

She walked over and tried to gently wake her up.

She snapped awake. “Ah! O-Oh, Ki!” She smiled. “Hi, sweetie..”

“You fell asleep, you should sleep in bed.”

“Oh, no, sweetie, I still have work to do..”

“You and Kyle make me and Li go to bed even if we aren’t fully done with homework.”

“Darling, this is different.. I have to finish these dresses, if not I don’t get paid for them..” she put on her glasses and started working again.

“You can’t do a good job if you’re sleep deprived.”

“They’ll be fine, darling..”

She sighed and left the room.

Rose sighed quietly. “Sorry, sweetie..”
