Stolas: “This transactional thing we have..it’s not right anymore…it hasn’t been…”

So you agree. You think entering into a transactional relationship where you hold all the power isn’t right.

To that whiteknight that said my opinions are crappy and that I don't know what it takes to write or animate a single episode, here's the thing. I'm an actual animator and I'm a writer. Here's the thing, animation is like math. It's only HARD when you don't understand it's systems and methods and principles, otherwise it all just becomes tedious work, so even though you might have a fun little idea in your head, actually bringing to life is not fun at all. But the results from all your hard labour is what pays off, thats the true fun of animation. The results are worth it, not the actual animating part. So animation is not hard, its tedious as fuck.

Second of all, you don't really need to even have a script to write a good story. You see Hayao Miyazaki's films? No screenplays, its all in the storyboards. Generally, you can even improvise and still get good writing, for example an author named Steven James writes clever and thrilling books without any outlines, it's all organic. Miyazaki and James's ways of writing are organic, they just hop into the story and figure it all out as they go along. Even Shu Takumi, man behind Ace Attorney doesn't have any outlines, he just hops to it. So no, scripts are necessarily needed for writing episodes, besides these guys wrote entire games, novels and movies without scripts. So it isn't really needed, so sorry if you thought a good story requires a script, I don't need to be a qualified scriptwriter to write a good story, besides, a lot of people are qualified and yet they write dogshit and destory entire franchises. I don't need to demonstrate my ability to write a good script, I should demonstrate my ability to write a good story. Helluva Boss prioritizes a toxic ship rather than well-written characters, conflicts, arcs, drama, action, etc. This toxic ship therefore destroys the characters it has build up, for whatever reason the writer chooses to keep I don't know, but they are not a good writer if they can't see the effect this worthless ship has on it's characters. And in order to protect one of its characters who was clearly in a position of power to stop this affair, they blame it on the victim then villainize them for the rest of the season. I very well know Blitz has ruined many of his former loved ones' lives, and he is clearly at fault and must be punished, but his relationship with Stolas with it ruining Stolas's whole life and family is not one of them. Stolas is responsible for the destruction of his family and his reputation, it was of his own doing. Instead of making him get what he deserves and gets character development and becomes a better person, someone we can actually sympathize with for once, the writers especially Vivienne simply choose not to. Bad writing, dare I say garbage writing.

I agree make Bird boy face consequences for his own damn actions instead of throwing the blame everywhere but him.

I think one of the biggest fumbles in Hazbin’s writing was making me not feel a single damn thing when they killed off my literal favorite character (the snake). AND I was totally convinced that they were killing home off for real too, like how do you fuck up your writing that bad that I didn’t feel a single thing?

Yeah if your favorite character literally DIES and you assume it's PERMANENT and you felt nothing, it doesn't get more obvious the writing leaves a LOT to be desired than that.

His death was literally a joke, and ngl i laughed. But you can't treat the death as a joke and then take a HARD left into trying to be devasting. You've gotta at least commit to a tone ffs, and for longer than 3 seconds.

You can't expect me to be devastated that the snake died when you played it as a joke, I'm still laughing about, at that point it feels weird that THEY'RE [the cast] not laughing. We barely even see him bond with the other guests so why should i even BELIEVE that Husk and Angel are THIS upset about his death?

Not to mention even HOW did he even get redeemed??? What did he even do in life that brought him to hell that he needed redemption?? We don't know. He's a joke character but his "redemption" makes no sense.

I don’t even dislike Stolas but to blame Blitz for everything going wrong in their relationship is like…that’s not it man. Blitz has a right to be pissy and push back when he misinterprets what Stolas says to him as advances Blitz isn’t in the mood for considering how Stolas treated him in the beginning of the series. Like yes Blitz has issues about fucking up his own relationships but Stolas should be shouldering a good portion of the blame, especially when you consider the social power imbalance of Stolas being a price and Blitz being an imp, which we see are considered even lower then second class citizens by royalty (take the one being used as a purse dog)

It's incredibly unfair to Blitz to be blamed entirely for the "relationship" falling apart. He's been shown no real evidence that Stolas sees him as anything other than a sex toy that Stolas likes to brag about in PUBLIC sometimes up to this point. It's incredibly degrading. And he couldn't really say anything about it or he'd risk his entire business falling apart if Stolas decided to be petty and take back the Grimoire.

And now we're basically retconning that Blitz AcTuAlLy HaD fEeLiNgS tOo. he wanted nothing to do with Stolas outside of like contractual obligations. every time he's around Stolas before Ozzie's he's practically desperately trying to establish boundaries that Stolas ignores all of, short of not fucking him in public. But now Blitz rejects him and made Stolas sad and we're supposed to believe Stolas is the victim here.

They're both technically at fault but Stolas's shit is WAAAAAAYYYYYY worse. Blitz NEVER had a say in their relationship, not even as KIDS, but he finally puts his foot down and tells Stolas off and they're making him the problem for it.

Im gonna try to keep my rants to a minimum now but i will say:

I really hope Adam comes back as a fallen angel/demon. We didn't get to see much of heaven and Adam's place in it but there were some moments, particularly between Adam and Sera that showed a different side to Adam and maybe hinted at that for all his bravado and assholiness (lol) he might actually have his own problems with Heaven. How he maybe didn't really like working under Sera and/or that she was a figure he almost feared more than respected. [How during the trial he turned to Sera for confirmation like a dog that's been kicked with his tail between his legs. Or how when she tells him off for sending Charlie and Vaggie away he deflates immediately under her glare and gives a quiet begrudging apology for his behavior]

Like yes he's an asshole, yes he shouldn't be behaving like that especially IN Heaven and infront of his superior. But it'd be interesting to get his pov and realization even that Heaven was unfair. Maybe even have a fallen angel episode where the fallen angel crew (Adam, Vaggie, and Lucifer) kinda open up about how they were treated in Heaven and how it affected them.

We need to see/learn more about Heaven and i think It'd be interesting to explore Heaven's unfairness and hypocrisy through the people they've deemed as Wrong and Unworthy who experienced it first hand and find out more about their characters. like what led to Vaggie's disillusionment, what WERE Lucifer's dreams that were so threatening to them and how Adam might have also suffered under their control and (probably) fearmongering.

But i dont wanna get my hopes up.

I just found out there's a trailer for the rest of season 2 and watched it.

The amount of blaming Blitz is getting is reaaaaalllllyyy rubbing me the wrong way. Blitz has his own issues sure but comparatively Stolas whooole shit throughout the relationship, fuck even when they were kids technically, is faaaarrr worse than Blitz not being able to express himself. Fuck they got MILLIE dragging him through the mud, in a voice clip that almost sounds like it would fit in a second truth bomb hallucination (eviscerating his character/flaws on a level it doesn't feel natural that SHE would know about and call him out on so blantantly for but like Blitz's subconscious critiquing him to hell and back)

Imo i feel like Blitz shouldn't HAVE to accept the shitty apologies Stolas gave him, he fucking USED him for sex and publically embarrassed him several times by making it seem like he was just a sex toy to Stolas infront of other people near constantly. But now they wanna make it so Blitz actually loves him too omggggggg 🙄🙄🙄 I'm honestly getting really sick of this Stolas is the victim shit they're doing.

Also eeeyyy holy shit the Dhorks and Cherubs are FINALLY back. Oh they've been waiting for IMP? They couldn't like, track them down when they were at that summer camp for a fucking WEEK while Moxxie has his pity party and people were posting all about Milldred/Millie? Couldn't swoop in and try something then?? At least stalk them in the background maybe if you wanna say there were too many humans? No? It feels like they just completely forgot about DHORKS and CHERUB and were like "oh shit i guess we should probably do something with that."

I will say the editing seemed pretty good and animation, but then ofc it would its practically a highlight reel for their best animation that's half the point. But it also feels like the trailer is gonna be the coolest part of this second half of the season.

Charlie's Daddy issues feel so forced in the show, like she SO CLEARLY has Mommy issues but this franchise is so fixated on the running bit that literally everyone has Daddy issues they just completely ignore Charlie's mommy issues. can't set up Lilith's character and twist too much, god forbid we SET SOMETHING UP properly to be paid off in the future. No let's focus on the daddy issues.

Especially Charlie's line about how "We've never been close - he only calls if he's bored or needs something." Like alright if he was ONLY calling you bc he needs you to do something that's one thing. But you're upset cus he calls you when he's bored??? When the fuck do you want him to call you???

Wow he calls when he's bored and wants to TALK TO HIS DAUGHTER?? Wow Charlie you're right the absolute nerve of that guy, who does he think he is?? Your Dad- oh wait.

Lmao I'm watching Hazbin Reactions and the lack of chemistry between Charlie and Vaggie can be felt so obviously in the finale when Charlie says

"i wish my mom was here to see this.."

and without missing a beat, without even acknowledging what she just said, without offering any comfort Vaggie replies

"The cannibals seem ready to fight."

GIRL AGDHAVFHEHE😂😂 THIS IS LAUGHABLE

Sorry just:

A) for a character whose entire purpose and personality is being Charlie's partner, that's just so funny that she just let that go and ignored her. Almost like "oh my god, again with her mom. Why are we so fixated on her supposed Daddy issues, clearly she's got more Mommy issues."

B) i feel like it's telling that the only time i can feel any romantic chemistry between them is when Vaggie steals reprises Lucifer's song about caring for and protecting Charlie. In a musical show the love interest couldn't even come up with her own original song to serenade her partner that she cares oh so much about apparently

Regrettably, I've kinda fallen face first into a hazbin brain rot. More so for what it could have been rather than for what it is.

One (of the many) things that really doesn't make sense to me in the show though, is wtf is Lilith's deal??? Like generally i mean not her supposed deal with Alastor. (But also to a lesser extent that, like what would she even have to gain by making a deal with Alastor that she couldn't or didn't already have? she's the Queen of hell ffs)

Supposedly she thrived in Hell, supposedly she loved her people and her Kingdom, supposedly she loved her family. But she gave all that up to fuck off to heaven for 7 years without telling anyone??? And for Adam of all people??????????? Adam, her ex-husband who tried to control her that she ran away from?? Adam who has been killing her supposedly beloved people for who knows how long bc he thinks its funny??? Like what?????

I feel like no matter what explanation they're gonna try to give her for her reasoning it's either not gonna make sense and/or just isn't going to be satisfying for her character that she was built up to.

Like it's the point where it's hard to try to make a coherent theory about because the whole like 30 seconds we see of her in the finale like directly contradicts everything we've been told about her from the first episode. Which would be one thing if it was a "oh but maybe she's not all she seems" if it was built up like at all. We are introduced to her as a character in ep 1 and she's never mentioned again after that until her scene in the finale outside of mentioning she and Lucifer are divorced, paintings in Lucifer's office, and flashback where her face is distorted

rise fic writers need to lighten up a little. I see this happen in every TMNT shows fanbase and always specifically the fic writers and I desperately need people to understand that it is more than okay to get a little sillay with the funnie turtle show. Please I'm begging you there is more to fiction than suffering angst and overly saccharine fluff deliberately made to give a break between angst. be brave enough to be stupid

"haha yeah except for x character they gotta suffer! :)"

must they? some of the best character development in the show happened in extremely wacky scenarios (evil girl scouts, getting tricked into a demolition derby, surviving a labyrinth for free pizza, etc) and like. those moments of development are not the small nuggets of good despite the silly. they are good because of the silly.

Raph is a soulful guy full of anxiety and soup. Mikey is kid therapist but also part cryptid. Leo is an insecure fruit with terminal Dumb Bitch Disease. Donnie is a theater kid all about that unethical science. Thats fun! Have fun with it! "what if the silly was a mask for deeper issues" is such a cold take it gave me frostbite. You can do better than that

My mind is currently fixated on this one brief moment in a tmnt short. The short itself was not that great lol but this one moment will not leave me rn.

The shorts about Donnie making a device that projects human disguises onto them (so they can sneak into April's school and get pizza). But the important detail here is its supposed to project "how they really see themselves."

And when Raph first tries it out he becomes a prom queen until Donnie "fixes" it.

But that 5 seconds are taking up all the space in my brain rn and all i can think of is trans fem Raph.

which episode i need to watch it

It was a short. This one.
