A special shout-out to Victuuri and Asheiji writers who don't describe Yuuri and Eiji as "nondescript" and "unremarkable". To each their own; you're entitled to have your own preferences. But when you're like "his boring brown eyes and bland face" yet you spend 4 paragraphs gushing over "pale ivory skin" and "ocean blue/piercing green eyes", I'm gonna start to think that a lil Eurocentric bias is at play here.

It's even more weird when you consider how enamored Ash and Victor are with Eiji and Yuuri...clearly they see the beauty there, so why can't you.

I can't speak for Eiji (although I do think Eiji is the prettiest in the series, I admit I am biased because he is my fave), but Yuuri is canonically meant to be beautiful. Kubo Mitsurou even said the one thing she keeps in mind when she draws him is to make him 'more beautiful than cute.' Like he's really... not meant to be plain.

And yeah I'm tired of reading about how Yuuri is mundane or plain (even descriptions like 'mundane at first glance' tend to get under my skin), when we're talking about the character that looks the most distinctly East Asian of the cast compared to the pale, blue eyed, light haired white man (and Yurio as well). It is one thing if Yuuri thinks these things about himself, but the thing about Yuuri as an unreliable narrator, is you have to counter it with pieces of information that show that he's wrong, otherwise it just comes across that you as the author feel that way.

I'm not too surprised, but I am disappointed that Banana Fish fandom does the same thing.

Also considering that most BIPOC have brown eyes of some shade, perhaps people, especially white people, should reconsider calling it a 'boring' color, period or ever. That alone is extremely Eurocentric.
