Lights Out || Closed

Things really hadn’t been great for Lydia lately. At all. She’d been fielding calls from her old friends in London and, annoyingly, her ex fiance. She’d been trying to be everything she could to make Michael happy, get the girls home, and try to figure out what to do with her daughter... it was so much stress and she just didn’t know what to do about it other than pop pill after pill after pill.

All these pills and no relief. It felt like Lydia had been taking more and more lately and nothing worked. Not one single thing made this headache go away. Or the general ache that was her entire life. She had no idea, obviously, that Charlie had swapped out her regular pills for whatever -A wanted him to slip her in the hopes of getting his girlfriend back from the psycho. If she did then she might have understood but she also would have been able to get off the nasty pills -A had replaced her regular pain meds with. It might not have ended like this.

Lydia was lying on her old bed in her parents house, arm flung over her eyes, when the pain suddenly hit her. It was in her head and it was worse than it had ever been. Sharp and fast, it was blinding. “Mum!” She called out, feeling about seven again as she staggered out of the bed and towards the stairs. “Dad!” Where were they? Before she knew it, Lydia had lost her footing on the second step and there was a sickening moment where it felt like she was hanging in mid air. Then, suddenly, she was falling.

Falling, falling. Then a sharp crack. The lights went out and everything went black.

The show was over.

Greg sighed, looking at her. “You really shouldn’t have done that. Are you okay now?”

That was really all it could be, right? Lydia shook her head a little. “Uh, yeah... I think so...” At least he wasn’t trying to get her to go to the hospital.

Lydia felt like she was getting worse every day. Her head wouldn’t quit, she felt shaky… she just didn’t understand what was going on. It didn’t occur to her anybody had switched her pills out with something more deadly. As she walked, having thought fresh air would do her good, Lydia started to regret it. She felt faint rather suddenly and then promptly passed out right in the middle of the park. When she came to, not even a few minutes later, she wasn’t alone. “Ugh…” She groaned lightly, not fully gathering what happened right away. “What… uh. What happened?”

Greg had just gotten out of the station and was going to walk home today. Taking stroll through the park before he saw Lydia and wanted to go over and say hi, but when he approached her he saw her faint. So he walked over and made sure if she was okay. After a little she woke up. “You passed out.”

She frowned, shaking her head as she pulled herself upright. She glanced around, feeling a little out of it. "I, I, uh.. guess I've skipped a few too many meals."

“At least it’s something. It’s probably better than you think anyway.”

“I’m not sure yet. Anything I can do to help you?”

"No. Honestly, I've had this headache... I'm sure once it goes away I'll be back at it."

“Yeah? I’m kind of jealous.”

“Oh don’t be. I don’t even know if I like it yet.”

“Oh, Keegan sleeps like a rock and if Greg gets up - it is definitely probably stress related.” Lisa said simply, moving about the kitchen to fill the tea kettle before putting it on to boil and grabbing a couple cups from the cabinet. “Please, make yourself at home.” She nodded a bit at the mention of her head being full. “Definitely. Would you like something to eat? I have biscuits, scones, muffins…”

Lydia nodded, moving to sit down though she felt a bit out of it due to her head still feeling so.. heavy. Why wouldn’t the headaches go away? She just didn’t understand it. “Oh, um. A muffin is fine, thanks.”

Ghosts of the past | Lydia & Brendan

Brendan always thought she would be, even if she didn’t believe it or whatever was going on with her. He took a sip of his own coffee as he listened to her. When she mentioned the baby, he glanced down at his cup for a second before back up and over towards. “I remember. There was a baby, and then when you came back from where ever you went. It was gone.” Of course he always wondered what happened. “What about it? What happened?”

She bit her lip as she listened to him, nodding a little. She felt bad about it all now but it was just the way things had needed to be back then. Right? She’d done the right thing, her - their - baby had gone to a nice family, she was sure. “Well....” She started and stopped again, feeling pretty out of her depth and her head wouldn’t stop pounding either and it was driving her fucking insane. “She’s here.” she managed, looking back up at him. “I gave her.. up for adoption and... she’s here. She’s in town.” She reached for her phone so she could open up the photo. “I know this is a lot and.. I mean, I don’t know why she’s here but..I thought you deserved to know.” She handed him the phone. “She’s beautiful.”

Lisa smiled softly and nodded. “And even if it is not; we have another day and our hope.” She stated confidently before starting up the stairs onto the porch. She pushed the door open and stepped inside. For the most part the house was quiet and dark. “Everyone else was still asleep when I slipped out. I just… couldn’t get to sleep…” She headed toward the kitchen, flipping on the light switch.

Lydia tried to be positive but it was hard lately so Lisa’s seemed a little foreign to her but she just nodded along. She followed the other woman to her house and moved inside after her. She’d almost forgotten how late it was. Lydia nodded, glancing around and pushing the door gently closed behind them as she followed Lisa to the kitchen. “Well, I hope we don’t wake anybody then.” She remarked, moving and leaning against the door frame. “I can imagine your head’s probably a bit full right now to let you sleep.” She shrugged.
