Leta Lestrange. Despised entirely amongst wizards. Unloved, mistreated, yet brave. So very brave.

Reblogging again because can we just appreciate that even though Queenie has explained to him why Tina stopped writing, he is still confused, because it’s so obvious to him how much he loves Tina that he doesn’t understand why it isn’t clear to her, too.
Why would she be in a tizzy about me.
If she started seeing an auror does that mean she lost interest in our letters.
Why did she say Mr. Scamander all hurt and then run off.
So confused.

Dear J. K. Rowling, please give me more of this dynamic in the next movie.
Tina, about Leta- Yes, I just said I am happy for you. No, I don’t- please don’t be happy. Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) dir. David Yates
I’m reading Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (the book) and it makes me so happy to imagine this older Newt. At the time of the first edition’s publication, the overwhelming majority of wizards didn’t think magical creatures worthy of protection. But by the time of the “edition” we’re reading, he’s a respected expert and author of a standard school text who, most significantly to him, has shared his knowledge and approach and perhaps even a little of his empathy with his society.
He also began the process of researching and writing the book alone and isolated from other people, and assuming he’d stay that way for life. Not necessarily a depressing thought for him, because his creatures and his work had always been enough for him. But that makes it all the more wonderful that he was in short order surprised to find friends and especially a life partner who shares his empathy, who is passionate and determined and kind in her own right.
By the time of “our” edition, I imagine that Newt Scamander has led a happier and more fulfilling life than 1927 Newt could ever have imagined. What a lovely thought.
“I love working with Jason and he’s such a great actor to work opposite, but sometimes, I feel it’s really just weird luck. Somehow people get magic dust sprinkled on them and you don’t know why. You look like you have boatloads of chemistry with someone else. What’s weird is that I love Jason but Jason is married in real life, I’m married in real life and it’s not like we don’t love each other but when I watch the show I see it as well. We’re on fire.” - Kristen Bell
