“Tony,” Pepper laughed when she heard his suggestions. She knew his intentions were fine though, since this was just family celebrating… because she figured Phoebe would never speak to him again if he mentioned that in front of her friends. Though, it took everything in her power not to cry in front of Phoebe - she just couldn’t believe that her little peanut was sixteen now. Seeing how eager everyone was for some cake, Pepper began slicing it up. “Birthday girl first,” she said, looking at the others. Once Phoebe had her piece, Aurora immediately spoke up. “Can we give Phoebe her presents?”

"Of course we can!" said Tony. "Why don't you kids go first. Mom and I will save ours for last. It's a surprise."

Rory looked up with big eyes. "Is it a pony?" she asked, remembering some jokes from when they were much younger, about Phoebe getting a pony for her birthday.

"It is not a pony," said Tony with a laugh.

"Hey!" Owen looked at his sister, about to take back the bag he was about to hand her. "Just because it's your birthday, doesn't mean you can make fun of us." "I was kidding... mostly," Phoebe smiled at her brother but then happily accepted the gift he offered her. Inside the bag was a reusable cup and a gift card to her favorite boba shop that she liked going to. "Aww... thank you Owen. I'm sorry I made fun of you."

"Me next!" said Aurora, proudly holding out a small wrapped box. The gift inside was not expensive, but she was very proud of having picked it out herself and paid for it with her own money. The box contained a pair of dangling earrings shaped like clownfish, which she'd seen in a shop and had known immediately Phoebe would love. Her parents had agreed, and Tony had let her do extra chores to earn the money.

"Mommy...?" Morgan poked at the sleeping silhouettes of her parents. "Daddy?"

Pepper sighed softly, turning over to see their daughter standing at Tony's side of the bed, then glanced at the clock to see it read 5:15am. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she tried to wake up more. "Morgan... what's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?"

Morgan soon crawled up into their bed, nestling herself between her parents. "No... I couldn't sleep anymore."

"You couldn't sleep anymore?" Pepper nodded, leaning back in bed, then it hit her - today was the opening of the new capybara habitat. "Is that because we're going to see Miss Bubbles and the babies at the zoo today?"

Tony opened his eyes as he felt Morgan crawl into bed, and yawned. He heard Pepper's question, and then Morgan wriggled a little and nodded.

"Yeah," she said. "I'm excited. It's like we get to have Christmas again!" Morgan had cried the day the zoo staff had come to take the capybaras away, but the keepers had sent regular picture and video updates, which had helped her feel better in the weeks since.

Tony sat up a little and smiled. "I hear the concession people are planning some surprises for the event," he said.

As Tony was explaining to Morgan why they couldn't keep them, Pepper was holding one of the baby capybaras and she couldn't help but pet its little head... but then realized she was making it harder to explain to their daughter. "You know Morgan... you have the biggest heart and I love that you love the animals so much... but Miss Bubbles and her babies have to go, but I'm certain they will love it at the zoo."

"In a way, we are keeping them," Tony added. "It's our zoo, and we can visit whenever we like. And they'll have lots of space there and a hot tub to sit in. Remember we walked about a capybara hot tub, like in the videos?"

Morgan hung her head. She'd been pretty sure that was what her parents would say, but she'd had to ask. She cuddled the baby capybara and put it down to go back to Miss Bubbles.

"Can we visit them every day?" she asked.

Wrapping her arms around Morgan, Pepper gave her a gentle hug before kissing her cheek. "Don't worry Little Miss... we'll make sure we visit often. I think they're going to love the hot tub in their habitat." Morgan smiled as she imagined the capybaras in the hot tub and shimmied out of her mom's hug so she could give Miss Bubbles a few pets. "Yeah.. that's true," she giggled.

"We'll even put oranges in it, like in the videos," Tony promised. He had no idea what the point of them was, but they'd seen several pictures of capybaras with oranges on their heads.

"Hey," he added, hoping to get Christmas morning back on track. "Why don't we have some breakfast and then open those presents, huh?"

Tony chuckled and removed the candles from the cake. "You can be a bigger nut if you want. How about a Brazil nut?" he suggested with a chuckle.

Owen, Avery, and Aurora giggled because they knew Dad was trying to be funny, but their eyes were on the cake. They wanted their parents to hurry up and cut it.

Pepper smiled when Morgan went to say goodbye to the alpacas. The way their daughter cared about all their animals warmed her heart. Joining Morgan for giving the alpacas some goodbye pets, Pepper didn't rush her, but gently nudged Morgan when it was time to get going. Once their luggage was packed and everyone was in the car, Pepper did a double check that Morgan was buckled in and soon they were on their way. "Okay Morgan... what are you most excited for?"

Tony got the luggage in the car while Pepper and Morgan said goodbye to the livestock, and once the car seat was secure and they had everything, he started the car and headed out. This was going to be an experience, flying commercial... he hadn't done that in ages. What was it going to be like?

"You said there's an aquarium," said Morgan. "I wanna see that."

"There's also a Museum of Chocolate," Tony said. "I bet that's where your Mom wants to go!"

Stifling a yawn, she turned to look out the window. It was early and the sun was just beginning to brighten up the sky, but she could still see the stars in the sky. It had been a while since they've all been up this early. "I have a feeling we'll all get a very nice nap on the plane," she teased. Though, she was a little worried about the flight over... Pepper couldn't remember the last time they'd ever flown commercial before.

They arrived at the airport and Tony parked the car. As they climbed out and got their luggage, a plane came over quite low, having only just taken off. Morgan looked up at it in astonishment.

"How big are planes?" she asked. "How high do they go?"

"I can use this!" Morgan exclaimed happily, holding up one of the Ironman gloves with two hands, accidentally jostling the triger. An energy blast crashed against the barn window and the recoil sent her on her but. (from @littlemissmorganstark - I'm sorry^^ she's a little chaos whirlwind)

"Oh, shit!" Tony exclaimed. He hadn't even had time to try to stop her. He leaped into action to pull the gauntlet out of her hands and deactivate it. "Morgan? Morgan, are you okay?"

Tony, got some really...really bad news, so it turns out Hell is real and they have a company that gets hired by sinners to send demon assassins on the people who killed them. Recently, they got a a new client-Obadiah Stane. Strange got the assassins but I think Stane is coming at you.-Rhodey

Tony sighed and rubbed his face. "Sure, that might as well happen," he said. "You got any ideas what to do about it?" He looked around the room. "Is this where we make a circle of salt?"

Rhodey curls his hands into a fist ready to shoot whatever is coming. The guy should’ve saw this coming from a mile away. First aliens then wizards and now Hell exists. Suddenly, a red portal opens in front of him revealing some kind of city but also a large shadowy figure. Walking out of it is a being that resembles an Iron Man suit but it’s completely red with the helmet having horns. “Hello again Tony!” Stane voice boomed like a song from the suit as the helmet flips up revealing he’s now colored blue with horns now. Still looking the same. “Someone’s not so subtle with his armor.” Rhodey commented.

Tony should have kept his mouth shut, but he couldn't resist.

"Not an original thought in that man's head," he agreed. "First he steals my look, and now he's got both Satan and Nightcrawler! I dunno if Satan will sue but if Kurt wants a lawyer there's a couple I can recommend."

Morgan seemed comforted by that answer and went back to eating her breakfast. She was so excited about their trip and she couldn't wait. Once she had finished breakfast, Morgan disappeared from the table so she could find Comet's toy and pillow so they wouldn't forget it. Pepper finished gathering all their things so Tony could pack the car and they could be on their way to the airport. "Do you have your favorite toy and pillow too?" She teased, offering him a smile. "I think we have everything."

Tony winked and leaned in to whisper, "you're my favourite toy and pillow," in her ear, before nodding. "We've got books and games for the plane, we've got our luggage, we've got our snacks. What do you think, Morgan? Do we need anything else?"

"Did we bring swimsuits?" Morgan asked.

"Yes, we definitely brought swimsuits," Tony said. They were going to a city on a beach, after all. "I think we're ready to go, then. Everybody grab your stuff and let's go out to the car."

On the way, Morgan put her little suitcase down and ran to give the alpacas some goodbye pets and a hug for Daffodoodle.

"Happy birthday dear Peanut... happy birthday to you!" Tony winked as he put the cake down on the table, knowing the old nickname would make Phoebe roll her eyes.

"Daaad," Phoebe rolled her eyes when she heard her dad, but still couldn't help but smile because she knew how much that nickname meant to them. Blowing out her birthday candles, she looked at her parents. "I'm hardly a little peanut anymore... but thank you for the cake."

Tony chuckled and removed the candles from the cake. "You can be a bigger nut if you want. How about a Brazil nut?" he suggested with a chuckle.

"It's not..." Pepper laughed as she thought about what was on her "bingo" card. It was mostly a figure of speech, but it did seem like there was some crazy stuff that had happened this year. Looking at Tony, she smiled at him. "No, no supervillians... but I wouldn't count out the alpaca hijinks... or when my husband likes to take in cute and silly animals." It took a moment to get all of the alpacas wrangled, but once Miss Bubbles and all her babies were together, they were able to get all the ribbons on them. "Okay... this is kinda cute," she said. "Can wekeep them... please?" Morgan pleaded.

Tony finished putting down papers and then got out his phone to get some pictures. They needed pictures of this... Pepper was usually the one making a record of their cute animal encounters but he was here so he might as well.

Then Morgan dropped the question, and he sighed. This was gonna be hard, he knew.

"Well... remember we're gonna send Mr. B... Miss Bubbles to the zoo as soon as they've got an enclosure ready for her? The babies need to go to the zoo with their mom. They're not gonna stay this small."

As Tony was explaining to Morgan why they couldn't keep them, Pepper was holding one of the baby capybaras and she couldn't help but pet its little head... but then realized she was making it harder to explain to their daughter. Pepper could tell that Tony was mildly worried about the answer he'd given Morgan. Sure, she wasn't sure how Comet was going to do on a long flight like that. However, they had the flight already planned and couldn't change it now. So, she turned her attention to Morgan and smiled. "You know… pets have to fly all the time. I'm certain that Comet will be okay. She's going to have the greatest time with the other pets that will be with her. If it makes you feel better… we can bring one of Comet's toys so she can have it with her in her crate."

That perked Morgan up. "Can we bring her squeaky hedgehog? That's her favourite. And her pillow," she added. Comet would be most comfortable if she had her familiar pillow in the crate.

"Of course we can," said Tony. "We're bringing your favourite toy and pillow, so we'll bring hers too."

Morgan seemed comforted by that answer and went back to eating her breakfast. She was so excited about their trip and she couldn't wait. Once she had finished breakfast, Morgan disappeared from the table so she could find Comet's toy and pillow so they wouldn't forget it. A Strange Afterlife

The last thing Tony remembered was fire in his veins as Pepper's face faded away in front of him. He figured he was probably dying, and being an atheist - no matter how many gods he'd ever met in person - Tony hadn't expected anything else after that.

But there was something. He found himself standing in the middle of a dirt and cobblestone road, surrounded by wood and stucco houses and people who were passing by on their own business but stopping to stare at the strange man in red and gold armor who'd appeared in their midst. The people were short, dressed in light, shapeless clothing much better suited for the hot sun than Tony's armor and sweats. It reminded him of something, but he didn't think what it was until he raised his head to look at the mountain looming over him.

It was not so much a mountain as a steep-sided plateau, and on top he could see structures that included a large Greek temple. This time he recognized the place immediately - he'd been there before. That was the acropolis of Athens, with the Parthenon. Except that the last time Tony had been there, the Parthenon was a ruin that had been blown up sometime in the seventeenth century. Now it was whole and shining in the afternoon light.

"Well, that's different," said Tony, tapping the arc reactor to get rid of his armor. He pulled his sweatshirt off, too, and tied it around his waist before starting towards the acropolis. There was no particular reason why, it was just the only destination that presented itself, and at least from up there he could get the lie of the rest of the land. As places to find yourself after dying, ancient Greece might not be so bad. It was probably just a hallucination anyway.

‘Course not, Morgan happily chimed in. She wrapped her arms around Pepper’s leg, but still peeped out so Tony could see her big happy smile that spread from ear to ear.Mommy, I think Daddy needs juice pops.

While Pepper and Morgan talked about what they needed to get to keep Tony occupied while he was stuck here at the hospital, Peter took this moment to actually talk to him. He gently placed his hand on Tony’s left arm, just enough to grab his attention. Are you really okay? he asked softly and sincerely.Like… I’m not going to wake up and realize this is all a dream… right? The end of the question trailed off a bit, getting very quiet.

Morgan smiled up at Peter with food on her face. She liked him very much but was a little unclear on who he was... he'd arrived when the missing people came back, so he'd clearly been one of them, but that was as far as it went. Seeing him cry over Daddy being okay, she'd finally come to a conclusion.

"Why do you live with your auntie?" she asked him. "Why don't you stay with us?"

"Those are great choices," Pepper smiled when she saw the ribbons Morgan picked out. Now they had to try and get them on the baby capybaras. Looking to see Tony finishing up with the temporary pen for them, she chuckled. "Okay, let's wrangle up these little cuties and get them situated." Watching as Morgan wrangled up the little capybaras, Pepper went over to kiss Tony's cheek. "Baby capybaras were not on my bingo card this year, how about you?"

"You have a bingo card?" Tony asked with a chuckle. He snagged one baby and it started to squeal as he put the ribbon around its neck. Miss Bubbles trotted over and put her paws on his arm, concerned. "No, no, we're good, here he is!" Tony finished tying the bow and put it down again, and Miss Bubbles started licking it. "What's on a Stark Family Christmas Bingo Card? Alpaca Hijinks? Supervillains?"

The latter had made for a very stressful Christmas one year... thank heaven that was long enough ago that they could joke about it now.

"It's not..." Pepper laughed as she thought about what was on her "bingo" card. It was mostly a figure of speech, but it did seem like there was some crazy stuff that had happened this year. Ally gave him an apologetic smile as he finally shook her hand. This was absolutely bizarre to say the least. The fact that they were in the eighties would have to be freaked out about later, because being in front of her significantly younger--and alive--father was further on the importance list. "I don't know if I can really tell you that," she admitted. "But my name's Ally. I'm...wow, I'm gonna get to say it. I'm from the future. Also another universe, but don't worry about that." She lifted her arm to show him the watch on her wrist. "This allows me to jump throughout the multiverse. In my universe--timeline, whatever--we know each other. It's how I knew the code to get in."

"The future and another universe?" asked Tony. That seemed like overkill, but also amazing. The possibilities of being able to move around time at will were endless - he'd thought about that before - but also an infinite multiverse? "So there really are other universes? Is this an eternal inflation thing? Or are we talking about membranes in the bulk, like in string theory? Who built that? Did you make it yourself?"

"Yeah, I know. I know. It's a lot. You really weren't supposed to know I'm here; I'm not the best spy in the world...Worlds." She watched as he took in all the information; she could practically hear his brain going into overdrive as he thought of the possibilities time travel and multiversal travel could afford. "I wish I knew," she laughed. "I'm not as smart as you." Tony tried to explain it to her when he figured it out in their world, but other than a reversed Mobius strip Ally didn't really understand much else. "No, Doctor Strange gave this to me. It was a gift." She couldn't help but smile at him, at his curiosity and bright-eyed youth. "What are you up to at this point in your life?"

Doctor Strange wasn't somebody Tony had ever heard of, and he wanted to know who this person was who could build something to take a whole person from universe to universe into a watch. But he also hadn't missed her statement that she wasn't a very good spy, followed by the casual question about what he was up to. That wasn't suspicious at all.

"Why do you ask?" he said. "You say you're a bad spy, but that might be something a good spy would say to get somebody off-guard."

“Well I was the nearest one so he told me. Plus he said he’s coming soon. He said there might be…” Rhodey notices the trees moving and wind blowing abnormally right now. Something isn’t right all. He’s feeling a strange presence…a very familiar one. “Tony, get ready.” He advised while putting on his War Machine suit.

Tony groaned and moved to summon the suit, but he didn't use them anymore, not since the fight with Thanos in which he'd lost his arm. He'd had some idle thoughts about how to design a suit that would work with the prosthetic, but he hadn't actually worked on it because he thought he didn't need to. In this situation... all he could do was hunker down and hope Rhodey could handle it.
