Casey smiled as the bubbly girl opened the door, maybe this wouldn’t be so bad. She certainly didn’t seem to be upset with him. “You look nice.” he told her, realizing that she seemed to have dressed a little differently then usual. Maybe she was experimenting with her clothes? He remembered Isabelle doing that a few times when they were younger. He could have kicked himself at her reaction to bowling however, that was clearly not what the kids did these days. But still, the bowling alley in town seemed nice, and maybe she would enjoy it anyway. “The place in town is pretty nice, Gracie likes to go there. It’s not that difficult, I’m sure you’ll pick it right back up.”

“Thank you, Casey, you too,” Hailey smiled. God, how could he be so cute?! And thoughtful. If she could look in the mirror, she’s see herself making heart eyes all over him. “Well I certainly trust Gracie’s judgment,” she chuckled. She knew how close Casey was with his daughter but aside from that selfish knowledge, Hailey truly liked the kid. She was as cool as a kid could be, at least. And she seem to like Hailey as well so it was all the better. “I’m sure it’ll be a lovely time,” she said, putting a gentle hand on his arm for a moment. “Let’s go then,” she grinned, practically jumping on her spot.

Bo had missed class for over a week and though he had a good excuse and notes for his professors, he still had a lot to catch up on. He hated it mostly because it meant he had to study a bit more than usual, and he already had enough of a hard time focusing as it was. He was on campus somewhere trying to do just that when he just took out his phone and called Hailey instead. “I’m about to get kicked out of ASU’s library for making this call… do you wanna meet somewhere? Save me from my misery?”

Image

Hailey smiled seeing the caller ID on her phone and picked up immediately, walking out of the noisy cafe. “Hello there,” she was saying when Bo started to speak already. She chuckled, “Risking getting kicked out of the library just to call me? That’s cute. I think you deserve to rewarded for this and I know just the place to put you out of your misery.”

Oliver laughed a little again. “Yeah, I mean, sure it is still a game.” He agreed with her, which it was. Oliver shook his head at her. “Nah, Sims isn’t really my thing. I mean, I used to play the first two or three versions, but the whole house building and stuff isn’t really for me. I don’t even really play Minecraft, but maybe if you want to get into streaming you should look into it.” He suggested. “I mean, it’s no big deal really. I am sure there is a hundred or so YouTube videos out there anyways so I might as well.” He shrugged not seeing it as a big deal. “Fair! You could always do YouTube as well with funny videos from Sims.”
image
“I’ll check it out,” she nodded with a smile. “I like building things but only for the gameplay. Is minecraft only about builds?” she asked. “True, but still, you have your own crowd. So it’s an opportunity for me. Actually I’m getting excited thinking about, is it normal?” she chuckled.

“You acted like one person and then an entirely different person when I got you alone, I don’t know what you expected.” Colton replied honestly. He didn’t have the patience for people pretending around him anymore. He got off the couch himself now and retrieved his own clothing, removing the condom and then putting his clothes on. He noticed her struggling with her dress. “Do you want help?” Colton asked, not really sure what else to offer her at this point.

“What?” Hailey turned around again with a bewildered look. “When did I act any different than I normally do? You can’t just say stuff like that and expect me to stay flirty,” she said before harshly wiping away the tears that fell. “No I don’t want your help!” she snapped. “Just get out,” she muttered and turned away from him again, leaning against the closest table for support.

“Sims?!” He responded with a soft chuckle. “I haven’t played that since forever!” He added before he nodded his head at her. “Yeah I guess that is considered a game.” He was no expert on it but he was intrigued to try it. Oliver smirked at her a little. “A gem from New York, got it.” He responded with a teasing smirk. “I mean, I could.. But are you going to be streaming The Sims, because I am not sure how big an audience that is going to be.” He shrugged at her.

She chuckled along, “Well it’s still a game, isn’t it?” she asked with a grin. “I wish it was a multiplayer game, we’d play together,” she pouted. “We can still try to do builds together, I guess, though,” she shrugged, trying to find a way to make it multiplayer somehow. She giggled when he repeated her New Yorker line, “Yep, precisely,” she nodded. Her mouth opened in surprise when he genuinely considered her joking statement. “Really? I didn’t really think you would willingly get yourself in that situation,” she chuckled. “I mean, teaching someone how to make money from gaming...” she shrugged awkwardly. “I don’t know if it would be enough, but I know there are people who make Sims videos, though.”

“How long have you been here?” Estelle asked the blond all the while moving aside to catch the signal. “Thank you! I just really need to send an Email and the deadline ends in three.”
image
“Just a bit more than a year. I came here when I started ASU,” she said with a smile. “Wait what? You can’t trust the corner then!” she exclaimed and grabbed her hand as she started to run out of the building, dragging her along. After about a minute of running, she stopped and panted. “Alright, this - this is good enough. Come on, you’ve got two minutes left!”

Hailey had been ignoring Colton’s comments for the most part, with the latest things he said, she had enough. With a little whimper she stifled, she removed herself off of him. “Really, Colton?” she said, clearly more hurt than annoyed at this point. “Being mean to someone while having sex with them doesn’t make them wanna continue either,” she muttered and went to fetch her dress, leaving Colton on the couch. She could feel tears well up in her eyes but she hoped to keep them from spilling until she could get out of the room. “Fuck!” she cursed out loud as she tried to zip her dress up but couldn’t reach.

Oliver looked at her with a slight smirk. “You don’t look like the kind of girl that is into gaming.” He told her with a shrug. “Self acclaimed once? Who might that me?” He added out of curiosity now. “Yeah I mean, it is fun and it pays the bills; I can’t complain really.”
image
“I play the Sims,” Hailey said cheekily. “That’s a game, isn’t it?” she grinned. She shrugged at his question. “There are some, most of those who came from overseas or New York, or Los Angeles,” she counted on her fingers. “New Yorkers have the rich kid attitude, LA ones act like they’re actual actors,” she rolled her eyes. “I’m one of the only few gems from New York,” she added with a wink. “You should teach me how to make money out of it,” she laughed, “I could at least support myself if this college thing doesn’t work out.”

Oliver shrugged at her. “I don’t think there is much I can do about it, unfortunately.” He responded with a slight smile on his lips. “I mean, sure; but I doubt they are going to travel all the was to little Ashton to try and seek me out.” He chuckled. “I am not that famous.”
image
“I think you’re famous enough,” Hailey shrugged. “We have quite a few local celebrities here if you think about it. Even more if you include self acclaimed ones,” she added with a chuckle. “It’s nice that you have something solid that you enjoy though,” she said with a small smile. She envied him really, she didn’t even know what she would like to do for herself.

“Why is the signal in this town this bad? It’s not like we’re in the jungle or anything like that.” Estelle growled, fumbling around with her phone.

“Yeah, I felt the same when I first came here,” Hailey chuckled. “Pro tip, this building in particular has the worst reception but that corner over there catches some waves,” she pointed out a specific spot.

“I should start taking my background while streaming a lot more seriously. Some of my viewers noticed the Ashton State banner in the background and apparently decided to google. They had my comment section flooded with comments about all the missing kids, asking all sorts of stuff..” He sighed.

“Ouch. Doesn’t sound too good. What are you going to do about it?” Hailey asked. “I mean, there must be crazy fans out there who’d probably try to come and see you, no?”

Casey was a little nervous as he knocked on Hailey’s door to pick her up. He hoped she wasn’t too disappointed that he had ended up bidding on her. There was every chance the girl had wanted to go on an actual date, and not get stuck with the old man she baby-sat for just because she was the first familiar face he saw and he chickened out. He just hadn’t been able to bring himself to seriously bid on a date, it had only been a year since he lost Isabelle, and she was the only serious relationship he had ever had. He wasn’t ready.
“Hey, Hailey? Are you ready to go?” he asked when the door opened. “I, ah, I was thinking maybe we could just grab some lunch at the grill and then maybe … go bowling or something?” he offered. What did college kids do for fun? He had head his head buried in books most of the time, and was too broke for much of anything the rest of the time. And more important, what did college kids do for fun that would be appropriate for this scenario?

Hailey was ecstatic. Sure she had hoped someone she would love to spend time with would bid on her, preferably someone that would give her a good time not only out but also in, possibly under the sheets. That was pretty much all I she could hope realistically. What she would hope but know not to become a reality was her biggest crush Casey Roberts winning a date with her. She had almost jumped off the stage when she saw his number go up.

When there was a knock on her door, she opened it almost under a second with the brightest smile on her face. “Casey! Hi!” she greeted excitedly and closed the door behind her immediately so he wouldn’t see the mess she made inside. She was very picky when it came to her outfit. She was good at dressing up for the parties and clubs and something to get the boys’ attention. But he was no boy. He was a man and she had to impress. She had to find the perfect mix of her own style - only dialing down the revealing bits a little - with the respectable young women outfits. “Lunch sounds great!” she nodded. He could practically say they should go to the other side of the world or dine with lions or something and she would agree anyway. “Bowling?” she asked, not expecting that. “I barely remember the last time I bowled,” she chuckled. “As long as you remind me how to play, I’m game.”
