The man grumbled at her, casually leaning the gun against his shoulder even though it had to have been pretty heavy. “Thanks, but I had the situation under control. If you’re with the police or,” she got the feeling he was looking her over, “the government, continue with the cleanup. I’ll take care of myself.” “I’m not with the government!” She laughed at the thought. This guy was pretty self important and she had the instinctive childish urge to knock him down a peg. But the fact stood that he was pretty damn good. “All you had to say was ‘thanks.’ Whatever!” She considered the map she’d looked at before, trying to determine where she was now when a loud crash came from a few streets over. She immediately threw the thrusters forward. “Dibs!”
