While I was writing Green Gables my idea of Anne's face was taken from a picture I had cut from a magazine, passe-partouted, and hung on the wall of my room—a photograph of a real girl somewhere in the U.S., but I have no idea who she was or where she lived. I wonder if she ever read of Anne, never dreaming that, physically, she was the original! I lately came across the picture in an old scrap-book and I am putting it here. - L.M. Montgomery's journal entry for November 9, 1934, including the photo of Evelyn Nesbit that served as the original inspiration for Anne.

I looked up Evelyn Nesbit to see when this particular photo was taken (1901, apparently), and ended up stumbling across more photos with Anne vibes, at least some of them likely from the same shoot:

All from here.

This is round 1 of the bracket. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage man.

[additional propaganda and propaganda photos submitted under the cut—mildly NSFW]

I am a 27 year old electrical engineer who works in a little secret lab in the middle of buttfuck Egypt. For one two month period, the office supply order changed from normal erasers to these, and I will not lie - every time I thought I was alone, I would sneak one out of my desk and eat it. They looked delicious. Tasted mid, but the appearance was so stunning that my brain just kept thinking, surely, the rest were a fluke, but THIS TIME it will taste like fruit and sugar.

Anyway, eventually the order stopped, and I was very worried that somehow, they’d found out that I was eating their erasers. So I kind of casually brought it up to my manager that I was sad that they swapped the erasers out, and he was like “yeah, but I kept eating them so they couldn’t stay.”

"Liminal" means "boundary" as in "the veil is thin here"

Liminal spaces are places that feel dreamlike, fuzzy on reality. Their boundaries are unstable. A bus station at night. A long desert highway. A bridge over a river.

They do, however, have an opposite; the Proximal space. These are places that feel far too real, extremely defined, boundaries that seem to override natural forces like time or space. Large warehouses without windows, identical chain stores at disorienting hours, your home after a nap of indeterminate time.

People making fun of me for owning tarot cards is not a real problem. This is not an axis of oppression. It is not "rooted in misogyny" or "denying a rich history" it is fundamentally not a problem. If anything, they're right. Tarot cards are kinda cringe. I'm an adult. My haircut is cringe. Who cares.

God forbid someone on the internet make fun of you for having a strange hobby. However will you survive.
