Thank you for the ask, @glitzescape ! So besides your Tumblr page full of lovely and irreverent humor, 5 things that make me happy are:
1.) Comedy- Laughter is good for the soul, and I love watching/attending stand-up comedy shows and improv. Most recent show watched was Ali Wong’s ‘Baby Cobra’.
2.) Reading- Lots, and lots of reading! Urban fantasy, sci-fi, memoirs, erotica, fanfic- a great story is the perfect escape! Last book I finished was ‘His Darkest Craving’, by Tiffany Roberts.
3.) International Travelling- Being able to experience different perspectives and sides of the world is wonderful. I’ve visited Mexico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and the Dominican Republic.
4.) Emotional Network- Whether it’s friends or family, I appreciate people that keep me grounded and make me feel like I have a safe space to push my comfort zone.
5.) Story/Writing Analysis- I honestly feel pretty lame listing this one, but I’ve always loved breaking down and discussing stories with others (not just fanfic). I’m one of those oddities that highlights passages that I find striking, and get passionate about deconstructing why a story does/doesn’t work.

Writers, remember this.
…you guys…
Just read an excerpt from a productivity/goal setting book that concerned Tolkien.
His publisher mentioned that people wanted more about the hobbits after Tolkien published The Hobbit.
So Tolkien started another novel.
And apparently bounced between the depths of despair and the height of confidence for the entire process (he said that: “his ‘labour of delight’ had been ‘transformed into a nightmare.’”)
He gave up multiple times.
That book? Fellowship of the Ring.
You know what kept him going? C.S. Lewis’ support.
First lesson: if you’re stressing over your book, remember that Tolkien did too.
Second lesson: Writers have to support each other. Seriously. It might be the difference between a book that becomes beloved by hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) even existing or not.

The biggest loss from the old Star Wars Extended Universe becoming non-canon is that we lost Atton Rand, a character who canonically thinks about fucking all the time so Jedi will stop reading his mind.
