I was on board with all of those except for that last one, because honestly? You can get away with not reading even “required” readings. Disclaimer: you should never assume that you don’t have to do the readings. Instead, do the readings at the beginning of the semester. You will learn pretty fast if the readings are actually necessary or if they are redundant. Often, the professor will cover most of what was on the readings during lecture. My advice? Read up until the first exam. There you’ll find out if the readings are actually necessary or if you can do without them. In my experience, most of the time, you can get away with not reading most of the required readings except with essays or assignments that are specific to the text or where you need to cite. I’ve only had two or three classes where I’ve had to read all of the required readings for a good grades.
If you have time to do all of your readings or if you legitimately want to, props to you. But readings are very time-consuming, and you still have to do a shit ton of homework on top of it. If I had done all my readings on top of homework, classes, work, internships, and extracurriculars, I would have never slept.
